CSIS and the Reserves

Okay, I did a search and couldn't quite find the answer I'm looking for.

I'm currently serving with the reserves and going through the CSIS recruiting process.  AFAIK, there is no policy preventing me from being in both (as opposed to the RCMP and the reserves).  From what I understand, most CSIS member who were in the reserves left because of the logistics of it.

If I am employed by CSIS (and that's a big if at the momen), I will have completed all but my trades training and I would prefer to stay in the reserves if possible.

So two questions:

Does anyone know of someone who has done this?
and
If I can stay in the reserves, how easy is it to transfer units (but not trades)?  Almost anywhere CSIS could post me in Canada has an INF unit.

Thanks for the help everyone!

When I was in 6 Int at Vancouver (for a year) there was a Sgt there who was also a CSIS Analyst on the civvie side. When he was transferred with work, he just transferred units.

That being said, he had already completed the training courses which take significant amounts of time such as JLC/JNCO, 6A and 6B. Getting the time off from work would be the only barrier to you progressing in the PRes. You may want to get a hold of CFLC and find out if they have any info on the CSIS military leave policy...if they have one. Several departments of the Federal Government have signed on in support of CFLC.

Cheers

I plan to ask at my CSIS interview on the 31st, but contacting the CFLC is a good idea.  I suspect the feds may be more supportive than my current employer (hence why I'm not on any summer courses).

But at least it is doable.

Thanks!
