Current US admin relationship with Argentina would probably see the Falklands gifted to them.
It’s pretty clear the UK is failing rapidly. It follows the US is next in line. There’s no reason Argentina can’t wait a bit longer and take all 3…

Unfortunately that is a 250 year old myth held closs by about a third of the population and largely promulgated by Brit refugees that washed up in America between 1717 and 1776 or so.

It was a factor in diplomacy even as late as 1956.
 
It gets the USA into the global press coverage for the day...

I still think that much of this is precisely about that: making as much noise as possible as a distraction.
It is working insofar as nobody knows what the distraction is distracting us all from in which case it is a successful distraction.
