Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some advice here. I received an offer from CAF for the position of Canadian Armed Forces today, with my enrolment ceremony being 12th December and training starting 8th Feb.
The dilemma I am facing right now is that, during my interview in June/July, I was told that the security process would take 12-18 months. Keeping that in mind, we planned my Indian wedding ceremony for the month of February.
I called my enrolment officer to ask if my training can be deferred, but he advised me to reject the offer and re-apply again.

I am very keen on this offer. and really do not want to miss the opportunity. I would really appreciate any sincere advise on this. Do you think that if i speak to someone else, there is a way I can get my offer deferred to a different date. if there is a possibility and the best course of action for me.

It is highly unlikely that they will defer the offer. I also asked to defer my offer and they said fine but they were putting me back on the competition list to wait for the next round of selections.
Is it possible to move up the wedding?

It is not actually. who did you speak to about this?

I spoke to my CFRC when they offered me a job. I had to defer for reasons different than yours but equally valid to me.
They put me back on the competition list to wait for the next round of selections. 4 Months later I got an offer I was then ready to accept. It's been 15+ years that I have now been serving. So I know what I am saying. You do you.

wow. i didn't know one could defer and get added back to competiton list. i only thought one can not defer the offer. I'd have gladly defered and wait til sunmer cos the idea of having BMOQ in cold February scares me.

however can anyone please help with what an ideal day looks like in BMOQ. and how long BMOQ actually is what happens after BMOQ. thank you

Going back on the Competition List for potential selection would be the result of declining an offer. This is the same thing you were told by recruiting staff (reject the offer and re-apply again).

As long as you have not signed your contract you can still decline. Once you sign the contract and get sworn in, the process is a little more cmplicated.

Hi Roshni,

Hope you are doing well.
Were you able to get any reply from them.

Please could also post your application timeline and if possible the career options you chose or the one you got selected.

As I have applied as a permanent resident, they said the wait time is more than 18 months.

Hello :)

Yes, I did speak to them and decided to accept the offer.

I started my application last year. I had my interview in June and was told that it will take 12-18 months.. I did however receive my offer last week.

I applied for the position of Logistics Officer and got selected.

What positions have you applied for? and what step are you on?

Congratulation for that, hope you also sort out the other plans.

I have applied for engineering, and on the medical step.

The situation 15 years ago is not the same today. I understand that wait times are much longer these days compared to 15 years ago.

Congratulations, my case is slightly similar to yours and I hope you made the right decision. My wife and I were going on and off about it but I eventually took the offer. My BMQO is in feb too. Log Os in the RCN. I will be leaving from regina. I hope we will be in same platoon. Good Luck
