Don't know if this is the right area to post this in, please move if it isnt, thanks.

I was recently reading boondocksaint's thread on AAR's in Afghanistan, and saw the video. Mainly I'm wondering about the camera. Are you allowed to bring a video camera on deployment? Would someone have to censor it for OPSEC? Would it be a hindrance on a deployment?

This is just general curiosity, not going on a deployment anytime soon, it is great to read (and watch) what is happening, otherwise all my information would be from the media, god forbid.

Thanks in advance.

Lots of guys bring their cameras overseas with them.  It's not kosher to post any videos on the net w/o prior approval but you can take as much film as you want for your own personal memories/enjoyment.  There are a few ground rules for what you can and can't tape overseas, prisoners, en dead etc etc

The camera man is a photo journalist, not one of us. Lots of folks thought it was someone in our Pl shooting the video in the middle of a fight.  I assure you we were all to busy to be filming.  ;)

His stuff is vetted/checked out, before he puts it on his website.

You are very correct though about video and pictures needing to be carefully checked.
