Hello.

I have a question regarding the differences in medical stanards requirements for Non Commissioned Members (NCM) and Officer cadets. I was wondering if its more strict too apply as a officer cadet rather then a non commissioned member. The reason why i ask this is because i applied for the Regular Officer Training plan (ROTP) as a officer cadet and my application got disqualified due to my medical report. As a alternative i've decided to apply as a Non commissioned member, for example : Resource Management support clerk. I am hoping a difference in medical standards requirements would alter the difference in being accepted into the Canadian Forces recruit.

Thanks in advance

Triston Arcand.

I have never heard of different standards of Officers and NCMs of the same trade. However differences can occur between trades, i.e eyesight requirements for a pilot vs clerk.

Info here on the Medical Category system, including the Common Enrolment Medical Standard.

Info here on the Minimum Medical Standards for Officers/Non-Commissioned members (Annex E referred to in Ch 3, Para 11 above).

The common enrolment standard is 432225. In addition, each occupation has a minimum medical standard. If you don't meed the minimum for your chosen occupation, you won't be enrolled in it, but you may qualify for another. It has nothing to do with NCM/Officer and everything to do with the occupation itself (ie Infantry and Infantryman have the same medical classification). In addition, while some occupations have a minimum standard below the 432225, you still have to meet the common standard to enrol. For example LogO is 433335, but you would still have to be 432225 to join.

Thanks Eye In The Sky for the information it really helps. I just have one question though. On the link (Minimum Medical Standards for Officers/Non-Commissioned members (Annex E referred to in Ch 3, Para 11 above).) it doesn't have a The medical category for Officer Cadet. All it says in the category 'comments' is ''Requires Medical Standard.'' Would that be The common enrolment standard 432225? or a different number

Thanks in advance

To enter as an OCdt, you need to meet CEMS AND the minimum category for the occupation(s) you're going to applying for just like an NCM - Officer Cadet in and of itself isn't an occupation.
