Hello

I am wondering if Armoured has a motto please?
I know that the Engineers and Artillery have the motto Ubique but have never heard one for Armoured.

Your replies would be appreciated! :)

I found this on the army.ca site

Motto of the Armoured Corps:
Through the mud and the blood to the green fields beyond.
(General Worthington)

Different units may have a motto
The LdSH ( RC) is: PERSEVERENCE.

DnA that is the Corps‘ motto...The Dragoons‘ is "Bold and Swift", I‘m not sure of 12RBC???

Has Armour ever had a Latin motto for all the units(eg. Ubique for the Engineers and the Artillery)?

Is there a Latin word(s)for the Dragoon‘s motto?
Thank you for any replies! :)

The Royal Canadian Armoured Corps has no officiel motto. Th unoffcial motto is "Through the mud and the blood to the green fields beyond" as pprposed by Gen Worthington.

Regimental Mottos that I have found follow. For info purposes I have left in those regiments no longer active that were listed in the reference:

Royal Canadian Dragoons - no motto listed, I have also heard "Bold and Swift" being quoted, though I believe that is also an unoffical motto

Lord Strathcona‘s Horse - Perseverance

8th Canadian Hussars - Regi Patriaeque Fidelis

Governor General‘s Horse Guards - Nulli Secundis

4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards - Pro Aris et Focis

The Halifax Rifles - Cede Nullis

The Elgin Regiment - Officium Primum

The Ontario Regiment - Fidelis et Paratus

The Sherbrooke Regiment - In Hoc Signo Vinces

Le Regiment de Trois-Rivieres - Adsum

1st Hussars - Hodie Non Cras

The Prince Edward Island Regiment - Parva Sub Ingenti

The Royal Canadian Hussars - Non Nobis Sed Patriae

12th Manitoba Dragoons - Ubique Honor et Equis

The South Alberta Light Horse - Semper Alacer

The Saskatchewan Dragoons - Esprit d‘Initiative

14th Canadian Hussars - Free and Fearless

The King‘s Own Calgary Regiment - Onward

The British Columbia Dragoons - Quansem Ilef

Le Regiment de Hull - On Ne Passe Pas

The Windsor Regiment - Semper Paratus

Thank you for the informative message, Michael as it was certainly helpful! :)

"Bold and Swuft" is our offical motto, there is a latin version but I don‘t want to risk spelling it wrong. :tank:

The soldier‘s catechism put together by the RCD staff of Meaford a few year ago gives the RCD motto in three languages:

Audax et Celer
Bold and Swift
Audacieux et vit comme l‘eclair

Anyone know when it was officially adopted?

You forgot the most important one:

The Queen‘s York Rangers- Celer et Audax
(Swift and Bold)

The RCD DO NOT. have a motto. Another urban legend perpetuated by a few arrogant officers.

There has never been a motto approved or even submitted to DHH for the RCD.

Well SOMEONE in the Regiment lied to me! It‘s even in the Regimental Catachism.

Thanks for sorting that out George

Regards

BCD Motto is "Quansem Ilep" from the Chinook language and meaning, roughly, "Always First".

I like the KOCR one -onward-

its weird because calgary police wear the same cap badge that we do. Also stating onward, i guess its just a motto for the city too.

what‘s that cal high motto again ? :p

After we won CAT in the late 70‘s with a rent a Leopard.tank. Unofficialy we used this motto on our T-shirts

FIRST IN on the front:
LAST OUT on the back.

First in last out is a motto for the infantry, and to be honest they deserve that motto...

what ever happened to

- Noise and violence!!-?
