Hey everyone

After going through the FAQ's and doing tons of searching, I still haven't been able to find a solid answer. I apologize if this has been asked before.

Question:
What happens if your file is closed for too long? (2-3 years)

Reason for asking:
I was in the recruiting process for infantry, but decided to go MP and now im going back to school for my PF diploma.

I know most of you are thinking 'who cares, just re-apply when you're done'. I'm just curious to know what will happen with my original file.

Thank you,
John

I would assume that if its been inactive for 2-3 years, its gone an you would have to start over. Best way to find out is to call the CFRC you were dealing with an talk to them

I'll do that tomorrow, thank you.

If anyone else knows, feel free to reply :salute:

You will need to begin the process all over again.

You will need to resubmit all of your documents again, but check to see if they require anything new. There is a new security verification sheet as well.

Good luck. See the application though this time. There's alot of people who put considerable work into your file, behind the scenes.

Your file will be shredded after three years but there will always be an electronic copy.

HollywoodHitman, I will definately follow through next time. I could just imagine how much work does go into this process.

Kincanucks, I phoned the recruiting centre and they told me that a file is shredded after two years? One more thing, do they keep your references in the electronic file, or is just basic information (name, address, phone number etc)?

Thanks again, you guys are great.

Don't know what CFRC/D you are dealing with but the rule is after three years of inactivity the file is shredded.  References have to redone after one year and just basic infomation of the reference is kept electronically.
