Hi all, well this is my first post im excited ! im currently in the process of becoming a CAF Member.  It started May when i took a look at my doors that i have open and what i need to do to open more as becoming a Police Officer.  I had just finished Police Foundations in Windsor and graduated with a 92.7%

I went to my local Recruit center to get information pertaining to becoming an MP with the CAF.  Well after a few hours of filling in information and getting documents that were required i ended up back at the recruiting office. from there i was placed booked in for the CFAP, to which i rocked a few days later..  now i have to wait for my Security form to come back ( 11/9er ) so i can move along with the process..  the thing that's killing me is all this took place back in May, its July 19th now and still waiting on the form to come back.., well i did learn a few things today after i left the recruiting place, that after my security form comes back, i have to get booked in for a medical, then an interview at my local recruiting place and then all my stuff is put together and i get scored to see if i am a candidate to be sent to the board in Bordon for an MP position.  then off to Bordon for i think its 4 days to see how i score, and more testing and testing and testing and testing....  do they stop testing LOL and from the group that's there in Bordon at that time is pooled together and from that pool the board picks the highest scoring persons to accept a job offer.

Dont get me wrong, i don't mind the testing, it kind of weeds out the people not fit for the job, i understand....  but it would be nice to have the recruiting areas inform you of how the time-line is to be laid out for the next year or so. I was to understand the process was, a few tests and then off to Basic) well not that simple now is it.....  not that it would have changed my mind on applying but it would have not given me false hope for this year and i could have secured employment a little different until next year.

any way im glad to be here at this site, and on the road to a career with the CAF, never give up on a dream

Rigley,

Welcome to the site. If you spend some time browsing and reading threads in the Recruiting forum, you will soon realize that no-one can offer you any form time-lines on the recruiting process.  As well, how long between completing of your file and a job offer is anyone's guess.  You will also find lots of info on preparing yourself for BMQ and on what is expected of MPs.

Please do your best to use the search feature to its maximum, in most cases you will find that any question you can think of has already been posted and discussed in detail.  When that doesn't appear to be the case, add your questions to the most appropriate thread, that helps keep similar information together for later members to find.

As an alternative to the built-in site search feature, you may also find Google to be effective, just add site:army.ca to your searches to limit them to the forum's content.

Thanks guys, just that i didn't see a new members area so i figured that i would post here ! im just excited to find this site !

and yes i understand that its a little hard to follow me at this time, as i just quit smoking this Friday and its Monday now so a little jittery, excited, nervous all kinds of moods but im sure that it will pass within a few more days, not bad so far being cold turkey ! haven't cheated either !

Thank-you

Rigley,

As someone who's still going through the process, albeit slightly ahead for the time being, the best advice I can give is patience.  Even if you'd completed your medical, and interview with success, you'll be in the waiting boat for MPAC (which MAY be in Borden -I've been told, although it might be mis-information, that it can be in places other than Borden) until November or later.  From what I understand, the MPAC personnel review all the candidates merit listed and  select the ones they want.  Spaces are limited, so based on all the information they've gathered in interviews, references, application, etc. determines your ranking.  If you're ranked #50 and they have 49 spaces, you'll be waiting until the next date.  Then, hopefully you wont have 49 new recruits that received a better ranking, or you'll be waiting again.
(If someone knows better, feel free to correct me.)

From the application process, up to this point, I've gathered one thing that sticks out above everything else...

1 - We're all in the same boat (or whatever symbolic vehicle you'd prefer), waiting is part of the journey.  No one person is above the system, we all follow the same path and timetable as those before us.

Good luck, perhaps we'll meet at the next MPAC.
(I'll be the old guy trying to keep up with you young whippersnappers fresh outta college.)

<EDIT - typo patch = path>

Chris,

From the information that i gathered from the Recruiter is that this October or November their will be a MPAC located at Bordon Base, from there if you made the grade, then you will be attending Basic into March of next year.

I guess that we just have to wait and hope that all the scores add up along the way, and enjoy the ride !
