For All you "Canadian Troops Went To Vietnam" freaks... (LINK FIXED)

Yeah, all I get is the blueman group over and over again. Meh, its Ann Coulter, probably not worth watching anyways.

LOL, yeah, when she makes a fool of herself like this, she is worth watching... but I guess she is always making a fool of herself.....  ;D

Can't spell owned without Ann Coulter...Actually you can :p

Thanks for posting that. It was the best laugh I have had all day. Cheers.

I was under the impression that Canada did send troops to Vietnam, but not with the Americans; as a "coalition" more or less, but under a UN charter to ensure both sides (North & South) disarmed/ didn't cross a demilitarized zone. This would have been '73 to '76 or so. I recall reading something in Lt.Gen. Lewis McKenzie's book; Peacekeeper, on his Vietnam Experience. But it was some time ago and I can't seem to find the book... I will have to get into more research.....

I saw the special that that was a scene from on Newsworld. It was about right-wing news-media in the US, and also brought to light a Canadian version - some woman in Vancouver. If only they'd showed her online. It was perhaps one of the most farcical pieces of journalism ever. Both the interviewer and the interviewee were desperately trying to defend or attack each other.

yes, i saw the show too... and when this part aired i remembered (helmets and cam on) ....back in '87 during battle schooll in Wainwright, one of the guys was from Moose Jaw, so off we went... his father was shall i say a high ranking NCO on the base. Anyway, one his wall in the den was a plaque.... "FBI"
Upon closer inspection, Forgotten Bastards in/of Indo-China"

There are four very different aspects being referred to here:

1.  Canadians in Vietnam during the Vietnam war serving in the US Armed Forces. (see Frankie's links)

2.  Canadians in Vietnam after the war, serving on a UN Mission. From Joe_McSweeney's Wikipedia link:

In 1973, Canada also provided peacekeeping troops to Operation Gallant, the military operation associated with the International Commission of Control and Supervision (ICCS) Vietnam, along with Hungary, Indonesia, and Poland. Their role was to monitor the cease-fire in South Vietnam as per the Paris Peace Accords.

3.  Canadian units participating in the Vietnam war - Of which there were none. This goes back to the original interview clip.

4.  Canadian political interaction with the US Government. See Joe_McSweeney's CBC Archives link.

Any reference to Canadians in Vietnam must necessarily confirm which aspect of participation is being discussed to ensure its relevance to possible counterpoints.
