Okay, this is so not what I was thinking when I clicked on the headline. >:D

MONTREAL - Former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, 76, is recovering at a Montreal hospital following surgery Friday for a spontaneous subdural hematoma.

“Mr. Chrétien is well and recovering at the hospital. He is expected to be released in the coming days,” the Jewish General Hospital said a statement Saturday.

A spontaneous subdural hematoma is a collection of blood between the skull and the brain that applies pressure on the brain, according to the statement.

Jeff D. Golan, the neurosurgeon who performed the procedure, “successfully evacuated the blood that accumulated on the right-hand side,” the hospital said.

Medical staff from the hospital will answer questions from media at a press conference scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

I also hope that juvenile and tasteless comments will be kept to a minimum - we are talking about a man, with a family, who has suffered a brain injury after all.

Hopefully nothing incapacitating. Certainly must admire a guy that handles an austere environment better than his close body protection team, I can't recall many national leaders applying choke holds.

I wish the former PM a speedy recovery!

There's a great (and tasteless), joke to be had here, but alas no, I'm going to take the high road and just wish him well.

An individual can feel how they wish about him; the fact is that Canada spoke as to how much it loved him and gave him multiple majorities.

Get well soon.

Hope the old man pulls through. Would be an absolute tragedy to lose possibly the most entertaining Prime Minister we've had to date.

I agree that although I didn't agree with all of his policies, etc, he was quite the character as PM. From the radio news today, he seems to be recovering quite well.
