OK so I am joining the reserves (Arty) and all my testing is done and I called the recruiting centre and they said my file was in the final stage of my application which is the Enhanced Security Clearance and its been about 2 weeks since I called....How long does this clearance take to do usually? (They said the Cpl. that does it was off for 5 days and she was coming back like a week and a half ago and still no call)

I handed in my application done September 22 04' and was done every test and had my medical back within the end of October and was merit listed by November 1st

Wait in line my friend...if you do a search you'll find out that some people have been waiting alot longer then 2 weeks...so don't hold your breath...

Yah, I've completed everything but am still waiting on my background check.  Is been oh about 5 months now, but that's because I lived outside of Canada for a while.  Besides, there are people on this forum that have been waiting for almost a year to over a year.

ya i totally had lucked out with only having about a 4 month waiting period are you going 031 Infantry regs? like me?

Not Bad, I've served in the Canadian Army for 25 Yrs, Transfering back to the Reserves, It still ongoing but it been 16 mounths. So Be Patiennnnnnnnt... ;)

Ya like there isn't anything in my background that would warrant the check taking longer so I have no idea whats going on...I may just phone recruiting and try and get some answers

My background check cleared after 4 months, but I've never lived outside Canada.  ReadyAyeReady - welcome to the fold!  ;)

To the others:  Until you've been waiting for a year, you shouldn't be complaining.  :)

My clearance took 8 months, and I lived in another NATO country for a couple of years.

For those who have a normal security sweep, don't sweat it.

I found the security clearance part of my application by far the most frustrating. Nothing was happening, and I knew my file was just sitting on someone's desk waiting for it's turn to be processed. It was very hard to keep my motivation level up and my interest in the CF going. Keeping my mind on 'Army' was important, otherwise I know I would given up in frustration.

For those of you in this position,   I reccomend   renting   a lot of war movies, read war history books, and of course utilize Army.ca
This is also a great time to increase your fitness level a great deal, so keep hitting that gym.

After my security clearance finally came through, it was like a giant weight was lifted off my shoulders. I was back in the system and things were finally happening with my application. As a result my motivation for joining is stronger than ever. Hang in there guys, I think the wait will be worth it.
