G6PD Deficiency, is it a disqualifier?

Hi everyone,

I am right now in the process of applying for the Naval Reserves. I currently have a condition known as G6PD Deficiency. This is a condition that can cause hemolysis if I eat certain foods, such as fava beans, or take certain kinds of antimalarial medication.

The only hemolysis event I had was when I was a newborn. Ever since then (I'm now 26), I've never had another episode.

Is this an automatic disqualifier? From what I read online, it could be, but some other militaries around the world accept people with this condition.

Thanks.
