Give The Ruxted Group it's own subforum?

I think we should make a specific sub forum for the ruxted group's articles.

We often see articles from them (stickied) in the current affairs and news. It's more more members opinions on whats going on isn't it? More of a reaction to an event than an event itself...
Same with Canadian Military forum.

It's like the threads get stickied simply because it's the ruxted group. I feel that shows bias in some ways.

Instead of automatically stickying them in various forums why don't we put them all together in a Ruxted Group?

They are posted in their "relevant" Forum with links to the Ruxted Group site.  What more do you want?

I think they should have their own forum like I said.  Maybe I don't understand the ruxted group. Is it specifically associated with army.ca staff? Is that they they are usually stickied?

Ruxted is its own entity with its own website.  It does not need its own board here any more that any other such group.

Right.
My point is so then why are their threads always stickied and not left to live or die (for lack of a better term) than everyone else's threads.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy their writings and find myself agreeing with them more often than not.
It seems like they get preferential treatment here.

I agree.

You're right, Ruxted does get preferential treatment, and that's no accident. Not only do we (typically) agree with the sentiments, but there is a crossover between staff and senior members here and those who write for the group.

In the early days, the group needed as much exposure as we could give it; now it appears to be self supporting, so maybe the boost we give it via stickies is not as important. We'll reassess and see if the benefit still outweighs the drawbacks.

Cheers
Mike

P.S. There used to be a Ruxted board here... we felt that was preferential treatment and it didn't really accomplish any positive goals for this site nor the group.

Cool thanks Mike, it's soething I've been considering mentioning for a while.

It's great that at army.ca even if directing staff may not agree with an idea from one of the members they are still willing to take a look at it.

cheers

Ah, then that means the Ruxted brand is being noticed well out of proportion of its appearance - well done!

Ruxted doesnt need its own category, and I personally like having them stickied.  I read each piece that comes out and wouldnt want to miss one.

Yeah, I like it stickied.  Having a forum just for Ruxted would restrict the natural 'mixing' of ideas and likely just duplicate some threads.

Ive started to read there stuff as I have been told to start reading, so I started with these guys. I can now admit i dont really know what im talking about after reading there topics. They really know there stuff and I agree with all that I have read. They propose stuff then back it up. So I will continue to soak in information. To George, CDN aviator, and to all ive pissed off on this site... I don't know as much as I think, there I have said it.

You have lasted far longer than many who posted in the same manner as you. I'm not sure how, but collective patience may have paid off. Realization of a problem is the first step in correcting it. Welcome to the light.

Keep reading. Absorb what you read, and learn from it. Ask questions if there is something that you do not understand. We do not expect you to know everything, or even anything, but we respect those that honestly seek knowledge and we are willing to help them do so (after they've exhausted the search function, of course). Eventually you will be able to contribute meaningfully too.

You should now, hopefully, begin to have a much more enjoyable and productive time here.
