Given the intent of the current government to turn Canada into an economic zone. And CBC's anti nationalist stance, is there still any reason to join? What would those be?

All the same reasons as always I guess? Serve Canada and protect Canadians; give your life some bigger purpose that’s not just a job; find adventure and do cool/hard/ridiculous/agonizing/hilarious shit with a bunch of friends; learn some excellent and transferable skills; pay for education; get solid pay and a great pension; play with guns and blow things up; get paid to be a total nerd; travel the world; travel the respecting sphincters of Alberta, New Brunswick, or Manitoba; learn to fly; learn to GTFO of a plane in motion; get away from a shitty upbringing or deadbeat town, mature and move on from bad choices… Lots of reasons, most good, some less so.

I suppose while supporting liberal democracy I'm struggling with civic nationalism. That we share the same political views without consideration of ethnic values or religion.
