Good to see them completely abandon their commitments to law and order. Guess it’s ok to rape and beat detainees if it is a Palestinian.
While the government might be giving them a pass, Israeli society is trying to hold their feet to the fire. That is the big difference between Israel and the rest of the ME. There are people and systems to hold the government accountable. It may not always work perfectly, but it does exist and does try to hold them accountable. I suspect part of the issue is that the brutality against Israelis done on Oct 7th is etched into peoples minds and there are a lot of people in the military that want revenge on what was done to their relative, family or friends.

It doesn’t matter why they feel they should do things, the same way a Palestinian might feel justified for Oct 7 based on how they have been treated for decades. Two wrongs don’t make a right and if Israel is serious about being the good guys they need to hold those who step outside it accountable.

Rapists need to be held accountable.

If only as much energy that is aimed at making Israel accountable, was also aimed at making the Palestinian and other ME leaderships accountable. The world needs to stop giving everyone in the region a pass while dog piling on Israel.

Anybody who rapes and abuses prisoners should be held accountable. I struggle to think of a situation where stabbing someone in your custody in the rectum is not criminally prosecutable.

Citizens in the Israel are trying to hold the government and forces accountable. You don't see that anywhere else in the ME and "Do gooders" in the world seem to give a pass on all the other authorities in the region for physical, sexual abuse, torture and murder in their prisons and police/security force stations. I just want the bar to be raised to the current Israeli standard throughout the region, that would save countless people from rape, torture and death. After that, then we (the international community) can push the Israeli to improve further.

I think all of thsoe people who are credibly alleged to have raped and tortured should be prosecuted too.

I think it's a bloody disgrace that Israel is giving a freebie to those where strong evidence exists to show they have committed those crimes. It would be like Canada deciding not to prosecute Kyle Brown or Clayton Matchee.

I can see the soldiers defence team arguing the public release of the tape compromised their right to be afford a fair and unbiased trial or something along those lines.

[And a counter- had the tape not been released Israel military wouldnhave swept this under the kilim]
