....as well as glad tidings to the PPCLI on the birthday of Princess Patricia of Connaught/Lady Patricia Ramsay.

In my ignorance, I only learned this week she was named Patricia because she was born on St. Patrick's Day.

Patricia's my middle name!  Not because I was born on St. Patrick's Day, either.  Close though..... ;)

Happy St. Paddy's Day!  :st.patty:

Being Army, it's hard to get away from the "wearin' o' the green"!  :camo:

Happy Birthday Princess Patricia.

And for all of you interested in hagiography, St Patrick was actually Welsh -- a missionary to those heathen Irish  ;D

Wow, that's a big word so early in the morning.  Eating Alpha-Bits for breakfast?  ;)

On a more somber note:

Sandstorms settled in the south
of that sour place,
and terror-men opened wide a mouth
etched in a hate-filled face.

The rifle-spit struck down Malone
and he in a moment gave
a life well-lived, alone,
to set men free of the grave.

In later days men drew down
statues from on high;
they struck Iraqi ground
so dust and cheer could fly.

What, one Irish fighting man
to free millions from cold chains?
Not noble words, not gracious plan
could make real such gains.

Or--Is our time so coy,
so wild and free a thing?
Not Harvey nor Kelly, boy
of Killarn, not the Brian King

Freedom bought at such a cost,
where glory's priced so steep:
Where the name of each good man lost
Can memory's Herald keep.
-Poem by Grim, April 10th, 2003, in honor of Ian Malone

Well, I'll probably drop in, just to check up on Mel; she sliced her hand yesterday leaving Sam to run the bar since Casey was training the new hires ( :o ).

...uh, not that I spend much time there....  :-[

I'm a fan of the classic version of Whiskey in the Jar, but when I'm in the mood to give 'er - this works too.....

*raising a notional glass*

Happy St Patricks Day.

As an Irish friend puts it, "if it wasn't for booze, we Irish would be ruling the world."

May the Good Lord take a liking to you... but not too soon!

Happy St Patrick's Day :st.patty:

And may ye be half an hour in heaven before the devil knows yer dead.  >:D
