Help training

Theres lots of threads on working out, pt, etc. Don't expect to be spoonfed. Search all the forums on the site, your come up with more than enough threads on the subject. This goes for all your threads, not just this one. When you think of a question, search the site first, if you've looked/searched and haven't come up with anything, than make a thread asking the question.

when using the search , sometimes using " 's help because it specifically looks for those words, and not any word with part of the word in it. i know theres at least one other thread on working out with a partner because i started one about a week and a half ago maybe 2 weeks ago...  ;)  but to answer your question, working out with a friend and working out by yourself can both be beneficial, in my position my training partner was unreliable and unmotivated so training by myself was the best option, however if you can find someone as serious as yourself for working out then use a partner to your full advantage, for instance you don't have to worry about 150 bench press coming down on your chest and having no one to lift it off you....  :blotto: hope that helps.

Hey young one, have I taught you nothing yet. Use dumbbells, always use dumbbells, it will make you stronger, help fix strenght imbalances and if it's too heavy, you just drop on the floor, instead of your head or chest.

i use dumbbells for a number of excercises its just i dont like them for the bench press cause i cant stack as much weight on them, but yah i guess i could do smaller amounts more and that would allow me to focus on stabalizer muscles, hell ill give it a try it cant hurt, like you said drop the things on the floor instead of my head or chest.

edit: And im not young, im 20  ;) lol

worry not about weight, you should. Focus more on form, should you.

well if you want to get stronger you will learn alot quicker if you are with some one so this is what i suggest get a friend who is in to everything you are and train with them. :threat: :warstory:

Ok i sometimes  train with my friend Frankie.  I seem to do more reps then usual on the bench press so it is probably better to train with a friend thanks alot for the advice.

Everybody is concerned about the bench press because it's the stud move. The clincher in any gym conversation, "so what's your bench?" Let's be honest here, unless your doing a bodybuilding routine, wherein you dedicate copious amounts of hours to specific body parts, i.e. one day chest/back and you do that for 90 mins, you're not going to be the worlds strongest man. Ok, also genetics have a lot to do with strenght and size. I was a gym rat for years, then a shoulder injury during hockey sidelined me, for almost 2 years. Now I'm back and in one year, I outlift most of the "serious" lifters in my gym. Why, I'm naturally a big, strong guy, at 5'11" and 280lbs it's going to be hard for most, not all, but most people to match up. So with all that drivel, here are the principles I use to bench press large amounts of iron. Enjoy
