I just joined the SD&G Highlanders and it seems they're out of berrets that would fit me. They said that it'll take a few months for them to get new ones, so they told me theres something online where I can buy gear using my service number and points given to me each year... they werent sure if it would work for me seeing as I'm a new recruit, but I'd like to try. Anyone know what these people were talking about?

I don't think a beret will do you much good in a Highland Regiment, unless they are withholding your right to wear regimental headdress until after you've completed BQ, SQ or BIQ....

You won't have access to the site untill you have a year in I believe. Its easy enough to get a beret though, either through clothing stores(like a ASU or Reg Force base) or surplus stores, or kitshops.

I am told that access comes as soon as your unit registers you in the People Soft program.  Apparently the Logistik Unicorps database is linked to this.  But get a better one, try the PPCLI kit shop or the Artillery Kitshop, both are on line, and they sell the nice cloth rimmed ones.

Well, thanks for the info, but it seems that I cant log in. I guess I'll see if the kitshop has one, if not, then I'll have to wait.

I find it extremelyy hard to believe it will take them three months to get a beret in. That, and saying "just go to the site" tells me someone may not be doing their job. I'd go see your supervisor on it.

I gained access to Logistik about 2-3 weeks after i was initially kittted.  I just kept trying to log in, eventually it said "welcome Officer Cadet P.Viddy"  I think it's just a matter of paperwork making it's rounds.

cheers guys

The guy said the new bunches were ordered a month ago but usually take 2-3 months to get to them. They said the same is with the name tags.

I can believe it.  Upon being kitted i was told their was a "national shortage" of cap badges.  what good is a uniform without a brass ?  needless to say, i begged and borrowed for awhile then my unit was nice enough to purchase some.

adapt and overcome

cheers

Name tags I can understand, they normally wait till they got a bunch to do. The berets? If it's from your kit shop, ok then, but it shouldn't take a QM 2-3 months to get a beret.

Our Pipe Major has been waiting for over a year for the proper CF appointment badges to sew onto his DEU tunic...
