High Ranking Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

Following a 16-month investigation by the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Professional Standards Section (PSS), a former Calgary police officer has been charged with breach of trust & misuse of a computer system.

It is believed that between 2008 & 2023, the officer engaged in personal relationships with numerous women whom he had initial contact with through calls-for-service or police-related matters. It is alleged that the officer used police databases for a personal purpose to find & engage in further contact with the women, outside of his policing duties.

The initial complaint was brought forward in July 2023. When the investigation revealed evidence in support of the allegations, the officer was suspended with pay in January 2024. The officer’s duty status continued to be assessed as the investigation progressed. He was suspended without pay in September 2024. Shortly after, the officer resigned from the CPS. It is believed that he has since left Canada & has not returned. As a result, charges have been laid by way of warrant & the radius of the warrant has been extended to include the whole of Canada.

Ugh. I wonder where he fled to?

Credit to CPS for the detailed public release about one of their own.

Ugh. I wonder where he fled to?
Somewhere without an extradition treaty? It's a Canada wide warrant so if he attempts to return to Canada through any port of entry he will get bagged by CBSA.

I don't think this has been posted before?

3 VPD senior officers facing serious discipline following Burnaby crash

In early 2023, several investigations were launched into the actions of three senior Vancouver police officers who attended a car crash at Kingsway and Royal Oak in Burnaby after one of their own allegedly made an illegal left-hand turn.

When an RCMP officer arrived on the scene, one VPD member allegedly grabbed his arm as he tried to retrieve a cell phone. Another allegedly threatened the Mountie’s job.

The Burnaby RCMP officer who attended the crash scene was wearing body camera apparatus, which captured video and audio of the entire incident.

Oh, I remember hearing about that one. The VPD officers should definitely eat some shit based on what I was told of the incident.

Leduc Const. Bridget Morla faces two counts of sexual assault. Morla was off-duty at the time of the alleged assaults, according to the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).ASIRT announced the charges Monday following a two-year investigation.

So she sexually assaulted two male RCMP officers in a hotel room.
Took 2 years to investigate and lay charges? Must have been quite the mystery to unravel.

Huh... a two for one deal ...

Holy cr*p... so sad...

Added the 'Central' to Saanich for you - Saanich is a different muni, of course.

And the backlash against the VPD Deputy Chief ...

Vancouver Police Union slams deputy chief's 'overly charged' comments on sexual assault case

The president of the Vancouver Police Union is taking aim at one of the department's highest-ranking officers, criticizing the "tone and language" she used when informing the public that two members of another force had been arrested for sexual assault.

Ralph Kaisers penned a letter to members in the wake of the news that an investigation led by the Vancouver Police Department resulted in two officers with the Central Saanich Police Service being criminally charged in connection to allegations they sexually assaulted the same woman.

One of those officers, Sgt. Matthew Ball, died by suicide after being released from custody, sources have confirmed to CTV News.

Vancouver criminal lawyer Sarah Leamon says police must be very cautious with how they publicly describe suspects who have not yet had their day in court.

"Not only does it affect a person's ability to function in society as a person who is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but it can also affect the court proceedings as they move forward down the line,” Leamon said.

The letter goes on to address Ball's death, calling it a "tragic loss" that illustrates the need for "police agencies across B.C. to practice what we preach when it comes to wellness and trauma-informed approaches."

Without making an explicit link between Wilson's statement and Ball's suicide, Kaisers says the "incident" is illustrative of the fact that the department "can and must do better."
