Same here really. I imagine it's the case most places (even in the larger urban areas)

Wait in the que. Do your bail hearing via teleconference on speaker phone. (24hrs a day, 7 days a week. I haven't actually heard of anybody getting a bail hearing in a courthouse setting in ages...)

He’s gonna eat some shit; still gotta come to a full stop when going through stop signs or red lights, and the lights and sirens should be fully going throughout. If there’s an accident, he needs to at least do a fast assessment and see if anyone needs immediate critical help. I can understand what was probably going through his head if a colleague was getting hurt, but he screwed up.

There are multiple other units that use those vehicles including guns and gangs, crime reduction and several others.

Edit- looking at your out Reddit threat they identify them as a “crime unit officer” so it’s as I thought.

Not to the same severity, but I have dealt with CAF members who used the CF Med system to their advantage to avoid military duties and then disregard their MELs in the personal life.

Lots of people take advantage of crap like this. The CAF has too many of them.

It's literally a thing everywhere.

I have had a couple of people who were close to getting terminated magically end up on disability. They then go through the process of trying to get them to return to work. You know they aren't serious about it after multiple offers and accommodation attempts are made. This process generally drags out over years.

The head of Coquitlam's RCMP detachment accused three of his officers of waging "a campaign of hate" in an email sent to staff earlier this year after one of the Mounties defended himself at a code of conduct hearing into allegations of homophobia, racism and sexism.

In a detachment-wide message sent the morning after Const. Ian Solven appeared to blame the pressures of policing for his derogatory posts to chat groups, Supt. Darren Carr said he wanted to "share his feelings" about proceedings he said he found "extremely difficult to watch."

In the email, titled 'MUST READ — CONDUCT HEARING,' Carr wrote that listening to "highly offensive, hurtful and degrading pejoratives used to belittle our colleagues and members of the public" brought on "a broad range of feelings."

Occupational illness / injury, if they can blink their eyes, and not in a hospital, "report for Modified Duty".

If Permanently Partially Disabled ( PPD ), a "suitable job" at the pre-injury rate of pay, subject to all future wage increases negotiated.

Non-occupational illness / injury, Sick Bank @ 100% first six months, then Long Term Disability ( LTD ) @ 85%. Switch to OMERS at age 65.

More likely, after two years on LTD, placed into another job that pays a comparable salary which he or she would qualify for after some training,

As mentioned above, if you have restrictions, stick to them.

It's a two for one story - could also be in the lawyers behaving badly thread. The cop's stepfather, a lawyer specializing in workers comp, was also arrested for assisting her.
 
This will be interesting to follow. I will be interested to read how the MP policy regarding the handling of suicide calls is tested. I recall a lot of controversy over that.

When I would respond to suicide attempts during my time on Halifax Harbour working for the MP Force Protection Unit from 2005-2012, we first get them onboard the rhib as quickly and safety as possible, provide first aid and get them alongside as quick as possible.
