High Ranking Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

I'm confused. What seems to frost the adjudicator's gourd is that he entered into a relationship with the wife and "took advantage of her" when she seemed to like the relationship long enough to have three kids with him.

Isn't the more serious potential victim here the guy who went to jail for six months because his wife's new boyfriend was the lead investigator and who had clearly chosen sides in this case. That he might have been wrongly impacted by this relationship doesn't seem to get word one in this report.

I mean if this guy had told his bosses about the relationship and been taken off the case would there even have been an issue? It's not like she raised a complaint. It was his talking to a buddy cop about it some seven years later that triggered this hearing.

According to Reddit, one of the ERT officers suspended is the son in law of the chief... So you may be on to something...

New database reveals at least 21 police misconduct, shooting, use of force cases in Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz County law enforcement officers have been involved in at least 21 shootings, serious use of force instances and reportable cases of misconduct since 2013, according to a new statewide database of police records released Monday.

The database created by UC Berkeley and Stanford University — published by the Los Angeles Times, KQED, CalMatters and the San Francisco Chronicle — has collected nearly 1.5 million pages of investigation reports into shootings, use of force and misconduct from about 700 law enforcement agencies across California. Records found in the database also show how each department disciplines officers if they were found liable for misconduct.

Well, as long as they've updated their conflict of interest policy ;)

3 Saskatoon police officers fired after investigation into 'off-duty gathering'

Officers who contacted CBC said that a tactical team member allegedly physically assaulted a junior female officer at the party. According to McBride, the Saskatoon Police's internal investigation has not resulted in any criminal charges. He wouldn't speculate on SIRT's investigation.

The officers also alleged that a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang was an invited guest at the party, and that his presence jeopardized the police undercover program.

At the news conference, the police chief said he does not believe any undercover operations were compromised. However, partly as a result of the investigation, the police service has updated its conflict of interest policy to forbid officers from associating with anyone "deemed to be undesirable" and where that relationship poses a risk to the member or the police service.

And in an historical and pop culture vein.

It was long believed that Pauline Mullins Pusser, the wife of the legendary Tennessee sheriff Buford Pusser, was shot and killed in an ambush meant for her husband, but new evidence suggests that it was the late sheriff who killed his wife.

A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation report uncovered "inconsistencies in Buford Pusser's statements to law enforcement and to others," District Attorney Mark Davidson said at a press conference Friday.

Law enforcement uncovered physical, medical, forensic, ballistic and reenactment evidence that contradicted the McNairy County sheriff's account of his wife's 1967 murder.

The sheriff's story inspired the movie "Walking Tall" in 1973 and several sequels, a 2004 remake and several books, Davidson said.

Buford Pusser died in a car accident in 1974.

"This case is not about tearing down a legend, it is about giving dignity and closure to Pauline and her family and ensuring that the truth is not buried with time," Davidson said.

Wonder if it will affect visits to what seems to be a significant local tourist attraction in the community of Adamsville TN.
