I know this question has probibally been posted a number of times but I couldnt find any thing, sorry.I start my training in august for infintry reg force,I am just wondering how long untill I am fully qualified and can get posted,,thank you in advanced.

No body can really answer this becuase it all depends on if you have to wait for your SQ and Trade Training and if so how long.  Also you will have to take into consideration that XMAS is in there and so that will push everything back a few weeks as well.

The best that I can tell you is that my hubby found out everything during his first week on PAT after BMQ.  This of course is not concrete plans for him either as his Trade Training course could be rescheduled if the military so chose.

BMQ    10 +
SQ      10
BIQ      16+
Total    26+

It all depends. Were you hurt or failed something and had to sit on pat? Christmas Leave? Start of course?

very true,I didn't know we get christmas off,or do we earn that?,and when I am waiting for my next course where do i wait?  ty

familyman don't want to be rude you're a nice guy, but take some initiative and look around cause this has all been covered in detail before..

I don't have as much time as I would like to and cant get that in depth with the searching as i would like to.I have heard different times from different people and now I know why, look up at my first reply thats my answer right their, but i appreciate the post, their was really no need ;)

well in short.. you dont have to "earn" a christmas leave period unless there is something really big I haven't been aware of.. its pretty much given out and expected of you to take it

while waiting for your next course ... it all depends. probably some sort of PAT platoon if the waiting time isn't that bad.. if it's a bit long maybe something with the home unit for example my friend while waiting for his AVN course got 2 weeks of OJT in his home unit.. they mostly acquainted him with the planes and electronics and basic aspects of his job and daily work life.

All depends what they want to do with you.... want an example? I'm heading to Borden on 05 Aug. I was under the impression (and I think I will but still) that I was going to do SQ there. Now they don't know. If I do do it, it also may be in Meaford, Valcartier, Wainright, Gagetown .... not Borden like originally thought. In basic terms I was told that "Borden will decide what to do with you once you arrive in Borden, how many courses are running, and what they think is best to do with you"

Hope that helps somewhat

thank you,I appreciate it,maybe we will meet one day,I start basic aug 16,good luck to you

going infantry huh? hmm.. I'm a purple trade, so who knows, I just may end up on a field unit someday!

I just came back from SQ in Wainwright and all the instructors said that BIQ is now only 10 weeks. Other than that 95% of the infantry guys wern't there for more than a month on PAT before they were on SQ and 2 days after we finished they were on their way to Shilo for BIQ.
