How May My Country of Origin Affect Recruitment?

Hello, all!

I'm one year from completing high school at this point, and for years I've been interested in joining the Canadian Army.
My hopes would be to enlist via the ROTP.

I have yet to speak to a recruiter, but before I do that I was wondering how my country of origin will affect this process.
I was born in Pakistan. I was a mere two years old when my family moved to England (Ashford, Kent), and five years old when we moved to Canada. I am, of course, now a Canadian citizen.
In case this info is relevant; I, personally, do not practice or endorse Islam.

Personally, I wouldn't have even had this thought occur to me if it wasn't for a co-worker at my summer job. In my eyes, this country is my own. Reminding me of my foreign roots was like bursting a reality bubble. One thing I've heard thrown around a bit is that I'll have to come up with five non-family references and wait for up to 6 months for a background check.

I've read the Forces.ca FAQ as well as a few other pages relating to this circumstance but I cannot find a reasonably reliable sources claiming any such thing.
I'd just like to know if my background will affect my application. I know that nobody here can really say whether or not I'll encounter prejudiced people on my way, but will there be any official opposition to my recruitment?

I wouldn't worry about that either. There are plenty of Muslims in the Military. Islam itself is not anything to worry about, fanaticism, terrorism and prejudice are. Don't worry about being judged! The Military is full of people from all walks of life.

Good Luck!!

Why would you take advice from a civilian that has never served work you up?

That's like taking medical advice from anyone that's not a doctor/nurse or someone with no medical education that is not qualified to give an educated answer.
