I‘ve got 2 questions.

Should i join the infantry? I‘ve got a web multimedia and programming certification but i am just so sick of sitting in front of a computer all day... I go to the gym everyday and i work out like crazy, i love physical stuff. I know i am better paid at my current job but it lacks excitement...Any comments?

Second ques: I don‘t know how to break the news to my parents and girlfriend? They are the kind that thinks the army is big conspiracy and wants all canadians to die and stuff lol  . But seriously, they will try to convince me out of it by saying they will send me overseas and someone will shoot me...Any ideas?

Thx a million!

Take a look at Signal Operators. You get to use computers and also go to the field.

Oh wow, sounds like someone along the same vein as myself.

I have about 8 or so years working with computers now, a degree in Network Engineering... and have held numerous Tech and related positions in the past 4 years... suffice to say I have plenty of experience.

The problem being, I find that I don‘t make NEAR as much as I should be... and that I am getting pretty tired of this field.

Have been considering the infantry (heavily) for about a year now, and am on my way to going through the process when I get my 2nd reference back.

Personally I also love the outdoors, physical activity, and anything military!

SO I think it‘s a good choice, also considered a trade along my current situation, but decided against it as I want a totally new experience.

Also on the final note, I plan to get into a police officer job at some point in my career, and figure this is a great place to get some experience for my resume.

Oh, and for the parents... just make lots of jokes... my dad bugs me everyday now about the army.

And the g/f.... well... when I had one while i was contemplating... she was pretty miffed about the idea. suffice to say I almost had chain marks across my arms and legs.

u know its so weird to see that so many people are experiencing the same thing im experiencing, thanks for all the support, i think my mind is pretty made up now. :warstory:

never know, might see ya in the field :D

I‘m in the high tech sector too. I found that being in the militia pushes me close to nirvana. I have my good job, but get to paint myself green on weekends. Depending on the employer I could even go on tour.

If you have a degree, consider becoming an officer... Signals Officer may be good, even a Communications Engineer...

its obviously less field stuff than an Infantry Officer/NCM.. but you could always do that too...
