Hi,

Couldn't find an answer to this question through the search function:

Any advice on how to write up a successful application for an OMM? I'm hoping to 'get it right first time'.

Thanks,

D&B

First sentence should read, "is a Colonel"

Before you baubles & bows people get all in a flap, that's just the perception; I know that usually two MWO/CWO get one annually.  ::)

daftandbarmy,
CSA 105 has excellent advise. You could draft the recommendation out now, but you should wait for the "Call Letter" issued by NDHQ before submission. This Call Letter, from the Army, DLP for example,  subject is "WARNING ORDER - APPOINTMENT ALLOCATION AND REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS – 200- ORDER OF MILITARY MERIT (ORMM) – 5-th LIST" and will include Annex A:  Cumulative Distribution of ORMM Appointments, Annex B:  Guidelines for Writing a Citation, Annex C:  Citation Format. Some of the info required is "Individual ORMM nomination case files must be submitted in accordance with reference A (a single page narrative is sufficient – a maximum of two is allowed – which forms the permanent record in the Chancellery, Government House. Guidelines are attached at Annex B). A citation must be included, in both official languages, for each individual being recommended, as per Annex C attached.  Please also include a copy on disk.  The information required in the citation must not contain any abbreviation or acronyms (i.e. appointments such as G1, which have no meaning to those outside the military, must not be used)."
LFA's will forward this Call Letter with their own requirements/due dates etc. The Call Letter will confirm format, etc for the recommendation upcoming list. Sometimes there are subtle changes.
If you want some assistance, I would certainly do so. Over the years, I have initiated several successfully -  all army, except one Air Force. I could ghost it if you want, and then you could run it past others as CSA 105 suggested.

That would be great. I may take you up on the 'ghosting' offer and will PM you when I get my sh*t together.

OK, having done some more research it's looking more like an MMM than an OMM. We should have something ready by Mid-November inshallah
