I heard through my crse WO that his CQ told him to be prepared to get the new ruck by the end of the month.  I call bullshit but we'll see.

TRIAL version...

Contract is not let yet from my understanding?

IIRC CTS admitted 2010 at last guess. (or did I just sleep in? and it is 2010)

I can ask around, but it sounds like it might be a fairly tail.

I attended a conference earlier this year where the CTS guys presented on progress to date as well as upcoming milestones. The ruck was projected to be fielded by 2010. Might you be getting a local purchase? Inquiring minds want to know!

P.S. I've handled the new ruck, and not to be a cynic or anything but if I were a pro I would be investing in a good off the shelf ruck. There are a lot of good options out there at varying price points, when (if) the new rucks come on line you will thank yourself.

Somebody better step up to the plate and 'procure' themself a few yards of cadpat and have Kifaru do up an EMR.

What course are you on CFL?  Didn't drop zone make a mutha rucka or something like that in CADPAT?  I heard the PPCLI kit shop was buying a ruck as well to sell.

Staff on the BIQ.
Not local purchase.  I'll try to dig deeper.
Andyboy I'm sure you have much better stuff then me and know a lot more but ANYTHING that comes out has to be better then the 82 pattern.

KIFARU - say it with me...

You can buy CADPAT material off of Ebay.  I just need the funds.  Wonder how much it cost to get Kifaru to make one outta CADPAT if you supplied them the material.  I am lucky my unit is getting very lenient with rucksacks quite a few people are starting to sport 64pat rucks entirely made of CADPAT material.

I am also quite interested in the Mutha Rucka from DropZone

HA! That's what they said about the webbing!

Actually I'm using a modified 82 pattern bag on a jump frame. I'm but a mere Molitia Maggot with family so I can't justify spending $ on kit anymore. If I was going in harms way I wouldn't hesitate on a Kifaru of some kind though.

Rumour control has it that they made a bunch of EMRs in CADPAT for a specific client. I suspect they would do it again if the material could be procured and hte numbers were there.

KevinB, can you honestly say that the EMR is wirth the $500 US? I mean, that's a lot of Krispy Kreme

I was under the impression that only a few companies were allowed to buy CADPAT.

but nothing is stopping any of us from buying the CADPAT codura/nylon stuff off of ebay and sending it to Kifaru, cept $$$$

I've emailed them and they said that if you provide the material, they will make what you want (no discount for providing the material, though).

Yes, because the Sgt Maj. would never notice the Iltis on your back because it's done in the crazy hypnotic digital camo pattern.  :)

I dunno man, If I were an enterprising young Cpl organizing a group buy, I'd just get the pack in OD or Brown ("cCoyote Brown" for you Marketing Execs) and let the individual troops get pouches in CADPAT at their discretion. CADPAT or not the silly thing is obviously not Canadian Issue so it wouldn't make any difference.  The pouches would be enough to satisfy the "look distinctively Canadian" rule,  and also this way you can switch to the green cadpat pouches when you get back from the tour.

That is the route I've taken - better to have an OD pack which, once dirty, fits well into either environment and is sufficently inconspicuous then to by a dark green pack and plop it down in the Sandbox.  I'm looking for a wee bit of CADPAT to send to Kifaru for a few of their pouches to adorn a vanilla EMR.

Multicam might be a better option for a all-environental pack, but I suspect it would draw unwanted attention from certain people in our Army.
