I'm organizing about a dozen care packages for some soldiers overseas. For you guys who have been over, feel like dropping any ideas on stuff you really appreciated getting in the mail?

So far I'm looking at sending a few things like some metal coat hangers, bounce fabric sheets, air freshners, some snacks. Not looking to go all out (cause we know how much stuff gets sent there) so i'm looking at sending a few useful things and not just stuff that will get thrown onto a free for all table.
I'm tempted to include  pictures of the rest of us having fun drinking partying it up,  along with a ration pack but maybe I'll save THAT morale booster for christmas.

Depending on who you're sending to, I know where I am, clothes pins are 100x better than hangers right now.. Can never go wrong with baby wipes as we go through those almost as fast as water lol... Maybe a small metal (or otherwise rugged) coffee cup, depending on how much you're spending on the packages.. Bags of hard candy for the kids, but avoid chocolate bars.. Umm magazines of various natures.. Not only the adult kind, but things like National Geographic and Popular Science are good to kill time... Tons of other stuff that I am too tired to think of lol

I posted some ideas and links on this thread which should assist you with ideas:

Here are some ideas from a list I have been working on.  The list is not finished; its just me doing a little brainstorming and still needs to be refined quite a lot, but it should give you a few ideas.

Which items you send will depend on how well you know said soldier(s), their age(s), interests, personalities, their line of work, allergies and other factors.

The number one item, is personal hand written letters.

If the package(s) contain food items, then I would send them in a plastic tub and brown paper wrap and label the tub accordingly.  Keeping in mind the size and weight limits for care packages.  Also, the storage tubs which contain the care package items can be put to use once received and protects the items during shipping.  You can pick up storage tubs and containers fairly cheap theses days from dollar stores, Superstore, Wal-mart etc... .

If you do a search on the Home Front board, there may be other similar threads with ideas for care packages.

Hope this helps.

I did a search on the www and found some more links for you:

The links are American, so while there are several good ideas throughout the links, some of the information and ideas doesn't apply.  Just a matter of doing your homework before hand about, which items are allowed to be sent.  Some where, there should be a list of what isn't allowed to be sent, along with other regulations which go with sending care packages.

A search on the www should assist you with additional ideas well; different search engines may yield slightly different results.

It's so much fun to put together care packages.

Have a great day.
