How soon are you going over?

I have a CSM in my opposite Coy that can instruct CPR.  HE is a member of St.John's for his day job.  In fact he teaches the yearly First Aid/CPR course at my unit.  I can approach him casually and ask what can be done.  No guarantees, but this might help you.

If it is for PSP and you can't get it right away, let your deployment hr manager know and they may let you go to trg without it. I didnt have all my dental stuff done and I got to go.

Contact your local fire department as they may have a course offering, or they will be able to find a course you might be able to sit in on

Stuart,

Please revisit the site guidelines pertaining to capitalization, punctuation, etc. Proper posting will probably result in more people reading your query and possibly more feedback to your question.

If you just require basic Standard/Emergency first aid certificate, maybe try the Ottawa community centres.

The Ottawa Paramedics also offers free CPR "C" courses regularly (but full until May).
http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/ambulance/community_medicine/cpr/index_en.html
I was going to suggest this. Note that the training is administered by "Active Canadian Emergency Training", not St John Ambulance. I took the CPR & AED class.

Also, while the free classes may be booked up, the City of Ottawa has many other first aid classes available for a fee. go to their online registration program and search keyword "CPR"

# Cert-Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid and CPR C

Certifies a participant with both Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid. Includes the principles of emergency procedures, teamwork, use of special equipment and comprehensive first aid and CPR training.

# Cert-Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR B

Teaches lifesavers how to respond to complex water rescue situations. Develops physical fitness, decision-making and judgement skills in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Candidates will develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Prerequisite: Bronze Star OR 13 years old by the date of the exam.

# Cert-Bronze Star and Basic First Aid with CPR A

Combined course that certifies participants in both Bronze Star and Basic First Aid. Recommended for those 10-12 years who can swim 300 meters.

# Cert-LS Standard First Aid and CPR+AED Recert

A clinic to recertify Lifesaving Standard First Aid and CPR C. Original Standard First Aid certification must be from the Lifesaving Society and the certification cannot be expired. Also, Previous certification must be from a full course and not a recertification clinic. Please bring current certification card. 100% attendance is required.

# Cert-LS Standard First Aid with CPR C Recertification

A review of first aid and CPR skills for those who have previously taken Lifesaving Standard First Aid. Practical skills and knowledge will be assessed through scenarios and written evaluation. IMPORTANT- Must hold a Lifesaving Society certificate. WSIB regulations require Standard First Aid award holders to alternate between a full course and recertification course in order to maintain their award.

# Cert-LS Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED

Combined course that certifies participants with Standard First Aid, CPR C and AED Provider.

# Cert-LS Standard First Aid with CPR-C

An in-depth understanding of first aid such as medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, burns and other medical injuries. Standard first aid certification is the minimal requirement for part time employment with City of Ottawa Parks and Recreation.

# Cert-Standard First Aid with CPR C

Comprehensive first aid and CPR techniques for those who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the home or workplace.

I got  a course booked finally. A lady  from the Ottawa Heart and Stoke Office is willing to give me  a private course next Sunday.
I tried the various links and followed most of them till I gave up when I called and found courses booked and a long waiting list for the next course.
The lady  at the Base Petawawa Family  Center gave me a number to call of the company  who taught  her CPR  but no call backs. I tried the local hospitaland their contact number for an instuctor never called back.  St. John ambulance  in Pembroke was full next opening was in May  or early  June if they had 8 people signed up in time. I tried almost every means in my area and almost gave up.  A lot of steps to get  thru  selection process.

Thanks for the help.

I hope this is a better post than my  last one. I am not very  good with written English,  it is not my  strong point or  something I was even good at thru school. I never took English , spelling or grammar in grade school till grade 7. I was was tooo busy  with remedial gym classes because they  thought I needed the sports training more. I suck at sports too.  I do try hard to get my  point across clearly, some times I miss.
