India (Superthread)

While everyone's attention is elsewhere, two nuclear powers have a showdown....

The water wars between these two were predicted years ago, but were predicated on global warming. Choosing to start a water war is a very different kettle of fish.

I certainly hope that things settle down before the get worse.

Once a commodity is scarce or can be controlled, it can be weaponized. India is doing just that in response to alleged recent terrorism from Pakistan. And since water management (too much or too little) is existential for Pakistan well....

In the past, it's been alluded to that cutting off the Indus sufficiently would be a nuclear redline for Pakistan. Presumably the might attempt to nuke the dams.

Meanwhile social media during our election seems to be once again targeting the world Sikh congress, and our Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. Once again pushing the narrative he is a terrorist. No doubt at the direction of elements of the Indian government.

Jagmeet Singh is not a terrorist.

With that said, Canada is a bit too complacent when it comes to letting some elements within the Sikh diaspora have a free hand in meddling (and well beyond mere meddling) in Indian affairs. It makes Canada look either complicit or like patsies.

Neither was Gerry Adams, but still played a big part in the political warfare.
