Iran Super Thread- Merged

Right now the US population for the most part is supporting this.

Is there some more recent polling showing a huge upswing in support? The polls cited in this article suggest otherwise.

I remember that Afghanistan and Iraq both started with overwhelming support.

…and how POTUS placed Putin on the shit list.

Is there something not being reported on? This flies in the face of the very recent easing of sanctions and trying to hand-wave away Russian assistance to Iran in targeting the US military. Has the Russian ambassador even been summoned for this?

How do you get that? "Average prices of 1 litre of fuel in Europe as of 2. March 2026" is what the chart claims.
I paid 2.22 EU/litre in Bordeaux on 30 July, 2023. I took a pic when I was done filling up because at that time it was about 1.50 CAD to a Euro, so I had just paid 120$ CAD to fill up an Audi A4 that I had ran down to almost fumes.

Credit where it’s due- it took us twenty years to replace the Taliban with the Taliban, with an invasion and full occupation. Trump replaced Ayatollah Khamenei with Ayatollah Khamenei in just eight days without boots on the ground.

The marvels of modern times!

In the US it took eight years to go from President Bush Sr to President Bush Jr.

The bad news is that by 2030 it is scheduled to rise to a cumulative 43 cents per litre with the industry taxes increasing.

What are you talking about? I am confused. The consumer carbon tax was cancelled.

On the sporting front ....
... and a few screen grabs from IRN state media to give a taste of the domestic narrative:

Can you explain how you translate those to cents per litre?

"Franco Terrazzano, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, said the group’s analysis is based on projections from the Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO).

"“The “hidden carbon tax” will add up to seven cents per litre of gas this year,” Terrazzano said. “As these regulations get fully implemented by 2030 they’re going to increase the price of gas by up to 17 cents per litre.”

"Terrazzano said the PBO estimates the Clean Fuel Regulations could cost the average household between $384 and $1,157 per year by 2030, depending on the province."

The first article ascribes the 7 and 17 cents per litre estimates to the Parliamentary Budget Office.

I don’t know, Lindsey. Go ask your boss’ buddy, MBS, why he’s sitting on his hands. Then go ask your boss.

I don't know what the world is going to look like tomorrow.

I do know that there is a high probability it will look different than today.

I also know that I did not like how it looked yesterday.

YMMV.

Completely false as can be seen from the post itself - ref the Trump Golem baby post above

A bit of an epilogue, courtesy of IRN expat/oppo (backed a bit by SAU?) media: "The crew of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr, an auxiliary ship accompanying the warship IRIS Dena that was attacked by the United States, fled to Sri Lanka after abandoning the ship, a former Sri Lankan navy official told Iran International ... The former official said the ship’s request for humanitarian assistance due to engine trouble was in fact a cover for a “mass escape” by the crew. He said the crew’s decision stemmed from a deep collapse of their trust in the Islamic Republic amid the current war in Iran ..."

If this was sustained it would be good for Alberta, no ? My understanding is Alberta needs a high barrel price to be profitable. Standing by for correction.
Keep in mind that while high oil prices will be good for the Government of Alberta (to help with their projected $9.4 billion deficit) it will be bad for the rest of the economy as it will cause the price of everything that requires transportation to increase.
