Iran Super Thread- Merged

Because they looked at North American data and thought they have become a net exporter based on Canada’s production?
Which doesn't matter if exports aren't restricted. And doing that would create all kinds of other chaos globally.

It's not like the current administration is concerned about causing chaos.
But, it's not great for Canada if that administration calculates its net exports through inclusion of Canadian assets as though they were American.

The Strait of Hormuz is open save for Iran shooting at shipping, according to Hegseth. The U.S. has a rare strategic genius as SECDEF.

The chaos wasn't actually hitting pockets in the US that much or at all. A global recession actually will hurt Americans. Even if Americans are the least impacted internationally.

We have literally signed on to this through various trade agreements. My only question is why we never built a small strategic reserve. Not to worry about oil getting cut off. But to buffer price volatility like we're seeing now.

The SPR has been politically exploited for decades, and electoral and budget politics are the chief reasons it is in its current state. Refilling is partly a function of oil prices, and from time to time is limited by reluctance to purchase at contemporary prices.

There is no particular reason that a Canadian reserve, if established, would not be subjected to the same games.
