I don’t know.Is that the SSGN that was spotted surfaced in the Med transferring special operations assets aboard?
Edit: with the 1\4 rule, at most there could be 2 lurking. The USN supposedly only has 4 of them.

But, yes, the headlines will be that the US and Israel retreat with their tails between their legs.
No. We lost despite winning every battle or at least most.Question. Do you think the US and NATO won in Afghanistan?
No. We lost despite winning every battle or at least most.
I am still pissed that we gave 158 lives for what?
The same way the U.S. and it's partners dominated in VietnamExactly. How many Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders were killed? How many bombmakers were killed? How many training camps destroyed? How many weapons seized and destroyed? Tactically the coalition dominated.
The Taliban, frankly, waited out the end game. The ANDSF had no chance to put up a credible defence, and that was due to the decisions of DJT to "make a deal" and end U.S. support to the Kabul government. And yet the Taliban is back in power. Worse for us, the Americans are absolutely ungrateful for everything we did.
100%Brad's assertion reminds me of the difference between MOPs and MOEs. Counting how many bombs you dropped doesn't actually tell you if you're winning. It may tell you that you're killing the enemy. But that may or may not be related to winning.
And the weapons officer, yeah. Not unexpected considering it’s a gen 4 aircraft likely hit by a manpad that would be impossible to eliminate. Hope the pilot is found safe.
Yeah. There’s huge info ops potential in this one for Iran if they handle it right. And lots of risk if they do it wrong. Depends if they can capture one or both of the crew and get them away somewhere safe and secure. If Iran wants to whip the US people up in a frenzie they just have to torture the pilots and air it on TV.
Those CSAR crews have balls flying like that in an area where there’s already been a fighter shot down.
Something Canada should finally dive into.CSAR crews are a different breed.
Something Canada should finally dive into.
And there's always a danger that we convince ourselves that we have the capability just because of a handful of assets.
Ummm no. CSAR is absolutely the high end of ops. People are focusing on the tip of the spear with the Herc and Helos. But there's everything from satellite recon to SIGINT and EW going on over there right now to get these guys/gals back. Getting some up armoured and long range helos isn't really CSAR. And there's always a danger that we convince ourselves that we have the capability just because of a handful of assets.
CSOR and JTF2 probably have decent Personnel Recovery capabilities that can be built upon. But actual CSOR is a whole different ball game.
Similar video purporting to be small arms fire directed at CSAR:Grain of salt as always.
EDIT: CSAR is definitely taking small arms fire though.
Since we have SOF and expensive airplanes and want to make a show of being adults shouldn't we have our own CSAR?
Grain of salt as always.
