I don’t know. The highest estimate of the Tiananmen Massacre was 2700 in a country of over 1 billion and the freedom movement in China was effectively killed that night. The Khomeinists murdered at least 30,000 in a country of 92 million. I know the Pahlavi and expat groups are trying to pump out propaganda that this is only a setback, but I can’t see this movement coming back within this generation, let alone the next. I hope I’m wrong, but I wouldn’t bet the farm on a revolution in Iran anytime soon.

This is why historically maritime empires controlled important straits...

The world depends on maritime shipping to function. Eventually, they will tire of this foolishness and sort it out. We aren't necessarily there yet, but it can't go on forever. The cost of allowing the crazies to control the BAM and SoH will be far greater than the cost of dealing with them, and eventually the "West" will realize this.
