Iran Super Thread- Merged

Apparently the Iranians were also making drugs in addition to nuclear weapons in those underground facilities. 🤔

“That’s what they were doing. They were nuclear and drugs. They were doing drugs, but they were doing the nuclear. These drug factories/nuclear factories were hit so hard.”

Direct quote. I think it’s very reasonable at this point to be compassionately concerned about his declining mental faculties.

He is certainly being treated in a compassionate way: Barely anyone brings up his declining faculty, be it in the party or the press. Compare that to the way President Biden's every small slip, lapse or misstep was treated both by the Republican, the press and in the end even his own party during the second half of his presidency.

"Now who can argue with that? I think we're all indebted to Gabby Johnson Donald Trump for clearly stating what needed to be said... Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age."

Blazing Saddles for the young ones.....

I thought in Blazing Saddles, it was Howard Johnson that always spoke. The running gag being that right after, someone would exclaim: "Howard Johnson is right!", because the motel chain named Howard Johnson's publicity catch phrase at the time was "Howard Johnson: Always Right".

Both are in the movie - Gabby Johnson is the crazy old miner, and Howard Johnson owns the ice cream parlor.

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land—the common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

And this is one of the guys that idiot in the Pentagon put in charge of figuring out future warfare?
So there I was sitting there when they announced the list of people coming into the Pentagon. And while Newt Gingrich was never one of those people I really thought much of . My thoughts at the time were at least he's sane.....and this happens ...

You mean the Musandam Peninsula, a.k.a. 'Norway of the Middle East'?

Lots of good reviews from the American Alpine Club ;)

The Musandam Peninsula is a 700-square-mile enclave of Oman at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, separated from the rest of the country by a 45-mile-wide swath of the United Arab Emirates. The Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf define its eastern and northern limits, and 25 miles across the Strait of Hormuz lies Iran. The mountainous core of the Musandam is called the Ru’us al Jibal (the mountain tops) and is often referred to as the “Norway of the Middle East.” This range, the northern terminus of the Al Hajar al Gharbi(Western Hajar Mountains), is slowly being subducted beneath the surface of the Persian Gulf. What’s left above sea level is an intricate maze of rock and water attached to the mainland by a slender, 10-mile-long isthmus. Deep bays and fjords incise the snake-like peninsulas, and in some places the land is nothing more than a knife-edged limestone fin rising straight from the ocean. Toby Foord-Kelcey, author of UAE Rock Climbs, estimates there may be as much as 300 kilometers of seacliff lining the shoreline of the Musandam Peninsula between the villages of Khasab and Dibba.

Nothing for not, but that area is actually beautiful. There are the most spectacular swimming and a stunning starfish can be found there, it holds some mythical place with the locals who tattoo the creature on their hands and, ummm, the vulva. Some pretty amazing old mosques if you’re into old churches etc. And yes there’s camp sites, loads of hiking, and all the quiet you can buy.

As for the geography, you get this eerie sense that something biblically catastrophic happened there way before our civilizations existed. Like a battle between the Gods in an era we can’t even fathom. It’s extremely unnerving and I wasn’t the only one in our team to comment on it. The mountains look and feel rough, sharp, violent. The waters are calm, warm, soothing like the bays are luring you into a beautiful trap.

Thanks for coming to my Fred Talk.
