Is it possible to have something like a Sabre light reconnaissance tank registered for the road like they are allowed to in the UK?

Remember watching a BBC show a long time ago.  There was a fella who owned and operated a FV433 Abbot SPG.  Would drive it into London - If memory serves me right, his was painted a bright yellow - not sure if that was his choice or some gov't regulation

That, I believe, was a Scorpion.

nope, the vehicle had a honking big 105 barel
real impressive when you see that coming at you from your rear view mirror.

...and was wearing a grey suit while driving it...I remember that one.

I had the pleasure of driving a M113 through Melbourne's peak hour traffic on tuesday. From what i saw it definately made a big impression on a few people's rear vision mirrors! Old matey talking on the phone looks out the window and see's me looking down at him from a fast moving, funny looking green, brown and tan wall! ah, such joy to roll around the city roads.

My personal favourite would have been CCing a LAV TUA from Shirley's bay, through Ottawa, to Uplands.

So many girls waving...made me want to put in my Transfer to the Armoured for a few minutes.

If the veh makes the cut for on-road safety etc then I can't see why it can't be registered (inert gun of course).

One of my fav memories is driving the tracks to the ferry or airport in Vic and passing folks on the Pat Bay hwy (Or them passing me) and seeing the looks on their faces.  Then there was the time some spin bubble cut off a Griz in Vic and promptly got rear-ended cause the drum brakes worked all to well (sarcasm) when she immediately slammed on her binders for the light she had to beat them to.
I really liked putting "Student Driver" signs on the vehs for courses and then watching the reactions around town.  ;D

I hear you on that one.

You want respect?  Put student driver signs and whoopie lights on an AVLB.

Respect?.... you'll get plenty of clearance, not much respect IMHO :)
