Islamic Terrorism in the West ( Mega thread)

This fella released from the reserves in Calgary and conducted a frontal against Israel.

Alleged terrorist released from Canadian Army reserves just days before flying to Israel

Father sadly oblivious.

On November 11 this year, Remembrance Day, Zachareah’s father Adam Quraishi, who works as a schoolteacher at the Siksika reservation and at the Calgary Islamic School, posted photos of Zachareah’s great-grandfather George Reed, a Canadian war veteran, alongside a photo of Zachareah wearing a Canadian Armed Forces uniform, seemingly implying that his son, who allegedly attempted an act of terror, should be remembered as a war veteran.

He was killed by Israelis, said Adam Quraishi in a video, for “looking too Palestinian.”

This follows a steady stream of posts by Adam claiming Israel wrongfully targeted his son. “He went hoping to save lives, confirmed by so many including our family doctor who talked to Zachareah. He was killed 12 hours after getting to Israel,” Adam wrote on a May 21 fundraiser posted to Facebook.

“looking too Palestinian” means running towards a checkpoint with a large knife.

Yeah, ISR media had something to say earlier this year when this first popped up.

I find buddy's Dad's job as a teacher at the Siksika school and at the Calgary Islamic School just as problematic.
I am going to assume that Dad was born here to a Muslim father (Quraishi) and a Canadian mother (Reed) so he is another examl.e of second generation, homegrown radicalism. Apparently the Quraish tribe are the Arab descendants of Muhammad responsible for the Kaaba in Mecca, the holy of holies.

Perhaps we need to take a pace to the rear on this progress to liberalism for a bit and reinstitute the practice of licensing preachers. And I say that fully aware of my dissenter ancestors.

This is particularly true where we have a weak association with the Fidst Nations, Inuit and Metis that is open to exploitation by foreign influences from Baathists, Iran, Pakistan, China and Russia as well as Khalistan.

We are no longer debating the relatve merits of Catholics, Anglicans and Methodists.

I won't do a ethno-cultural analysis of the family background, but there could be a kernel of truth to the bit in yellow, for sure.

I remember during Yugoslavia's more-kinetic version of "The Troubles," analysts and political scientists I spoke with said often, the diaspora feel the politics WAY more strongly than those still in the old country. That could be part of the issue, for sure.

Also have to come back to the bigger (harder to easily solve) question of "how do you let people who may feel fucked over by society feel less fucked over so they don't look for unhealthy/illegal ways to 'feel heard/seen' like this?" And that goes for ANY radicalization 🤷‍♂️

WRT the FRY there’s a good book called “The Ghosts of The Medak Pocket” that explains that very thing.

You can't turn chaf into wheat. Sometimes sorting is your only option.

In Canada install classroom monitors and recording devices. If people start teaching christians/muslims/jews are bad or aren't human then shut the school down.

Agree in some cases, they may be beyond help, but if you catch them early enough, like with any criminal, increases the odds of turning the grain boat around, so to speak.

Yep. Young men with no economic and/or romantic prospects are highly susceptible to radicalization by any extremist ideology. It depends on who they decide to believe is responsible for their plight.

There are a lot of reasons to be concerned about the plight of young men in our society. Radicalization is just one of them.

Young men will take any opportunity to act aggressively. A cause just soothes the conscience.

Obviously our cause is just. The other isn't.
