I phoned the reqruiting center today and found out that my first choice for (514) is not available or "closed". I really had my eye on this job and i don‘t really want to go for my second choice. How long does it normally take for a job to become available?

Unfortunately, there‘s no telling. Trades have been closed for years at a time, though that‘s not the normal practice. Just as discouraging, you won‘t generally get an accurate forecast of when a specific trade will be open.

That information may not be known at any level, and even when it is, it‘s bad policy to release it in case there are unforseen changes.

I hate how the reqruiting process is so disorganized. I bet that if i was in the US, i‘d be in Iraq by now.

You should be happy that your recruitment office hasn‘t lost your whole file... yet.

It happened to my cousin. His application process took more than a year.

Iraq eh! I doubt it. Rumsfeld said that to train a troop from swearing in to a fully combat capable, equipment knowledgable, experienced soldier takes about 18 months to 24 months. Not many newbies there. I am sure that there will always be exceptions to the rule. But generally cherries will be at home.

Right now, I‘m in the middle of recruiting into the reserves. I filled out everything within a few days and handed it in. Two weeks later I had to go back and fill in another security form because they gave me the wrong one. Then they lost my file for three weeks.

I‘m now waiting on the medical report to come back.

It‘s such a pain to try to serve you country. :gunner:

I could be doing other things right now besides having to wait for the **** medical to come back and finally finish my application.

Also, does anyone know how many new reqruits are there for every group for Basic Training? 100? 200?
