I think your first point is EXCELLENT. If law-abiding citizens register their weapons then they should have no problems purchasing ammunition. If they try to purchase ammunition and show no registered weapons ... then they are obviously hiding something and deserve any repercussions that follow. I do agree that this situation does little to stem the flow of ILLEGAL weapons into the country.
Your second point also holds some validity. I would find it reassuring to know that the police had the proper background knowledge of a situation before approaching it. Would the military rush headlong into a situation without any recce?
I would like to apologize for my initial posting. I was merely having a little fun at Mr. Fisher‘s expense and meant no harm.
