Hey all, I'm going to be joining the Reserves here in Ontario soon, Just wondering where I can go as a member once fully trained- I know war zones, and peacekeeping. But where else could a reserve rifleman apply to go to in the world these days>??
Thanks, Everyone have a good weekend.

Been covered before,  search around the forums.  One of the members wrote up a good post about what newly qualified DP1 Reserve soldiers can expect,  do, etc.

Google,  CEFCOM  and Canadian Forces deployments and you will get a website that lists all current Canadian Forces missions/operations.

For right now though,  don't even think about what you could or could not do,  you haven't even applied yet.  Focus on picking a unit, talking with them, getting through the recruiting process.  From there you can focus on your courses,  and once you are DP1 qualified you can think about going off on taskings(if any are avail), etc  As a DP1 qual troop don't expect anything too exciting,  might be able to do a enemy force tasking, or driver at the Infantry School, etc.

CHeers, Thanks. All ready on that front, just wanted to make sure I could apply for all the same things the reg force could do. :cdn:

You will be able to have some of the same opportunities for courses, etc as Reg Force.  But some courses are Reg Force only or you might only be able to get them if you are an augmentee for tour and get it during pre-deployment.

Do not, however, confuse "able to apply" with the expectation of automatically receiving what you desire when you ask for it. Some attractive training activities and courses are based upon very limited availability that may be shared between a large number of Reserve units. Within each unit may be a relatively large number of soldiers desiring such opportunities. Take care in thinking that joining the Reserves, in any trade, automatically opens doors to all the training you are imagining is available. All things depend upon timing, opportunity and your availability all lining up ... it can happen, but don't plan your life around it (in either the Reserves or the Regular Force).
