Joining the Reserves

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, but I have alot of questions that I would really like to have answered. For the longest time I considered joining the army, and finally decided to try for the reserves. First, is it possible to be accepted, but then not reach their expectations? And what happens if you don't? Also, I know that the regular force and reserve basic training is different, so what is the reserve basic training like? How fit do you need to be? But my biggest question is this, how do I know if I am right for the military? If I can do it? I am sure this is what I want to do, but I don't want to disappoint anyone by not being able to properly do what they expect me to do. I would really appreciate any tips or advice anyone could give me. Thank you.

Sincerely,
-Carmen

Yes. It happens frequently.

And what happens if you don't?

Various steps are taken to correct the problem. If that doesn't work, you get released from the CF. This is not the public school system where you get a pass just for showing up.

How fit do you need to be?

If you are asking this, you are likely not fit enough. Work on it now, it will pay off.

The only way to know is to try. You will be given the same chance as everyone else to meet the standard we demand. If you meet that standard, you have a chance for a great career. If you don't meet that standard, then that's just the way it is. We will not be disappointed, we will just send you on your way.

Thank you, that's good to know. But I do have one more question, it's concerning weapons training. Do they teach you what you need to know in the reserves, or is it better if you have previous knowledge? Thanks again.

Sincerely,
-Carmen

You will be taught everything that you need to know, just as everybody else has been/will be.

Start reading through older posts here, and use the Search Function, in order to find further information of benefit. There is a ton here already - your questions have likely been answered before you have even thought of them.

Hi,

I am new in this forum. I would like to ask if how can I join the reserve force? I am a permanent resident in Ontario.
I'm a physiotherapy graduate in another country and my studies is been recognized here in Canada.
