Enough with the pissing contest.   If new posters keep getting slammed for stupid reasons this site will find that less people will visit.   Have a little respect for everone else, along with a good attitude and some tact.   Some of you might know these rules from the past:

1.   First year, keep your mouth shut and listen.

3.   Third year, your turn to start answering questions.

Well since you didn't specify either way.  There are allot of Canadians serving with the American Military.  Canadians make up the largest percentage of foriegn nationals in the American military. 

As well I'm sure there are Canadians over there with the many security contractors, reconstruction teams ,etc etc.

As for actual Canadian servicemen, there was a huge media scrum at the begining of the conflict becuase we had exchange personnel with both the British and the American units that were set to invade Iraq.  They continued to serve with their exchange units but were prohibited from engaging in combat. 

Are there any there right now?  I have no clue.

There are also CF members serving in liason positions including a MGen who is a Deputy Commander of US forces. During the actual "war" portion there were (IIRC) around 20 CF officers serving with allied forces.  Who could forget then MND MacCallum stating something along the lines of "...Canadians were not in combat in Iraq, but combat was all around them..." 

As for your rules... well I've been around the block and am a serving infantry officer... If I can't post my opinions/experiences until three years from now.... fowgeddaboudit.

Those aren't rules for this site, just an example from the Airborne Regiment.  More of an idea for the new guys, you know if you're a new guy or not...
Basicly, 1.  do some research before you ask a question,  2.  Once you've defined what you really want to ask, post your question,  3.  With experience comes knowledge, soon you will have answers of your own(but no-one has all the answers!)
If the initial question was garbled, it was fixed rather quickly, that should have been the end....

Getting back to the original qustion. I have seen a CBC news storey on a young Canadain serving with the Royal Marines in Iraq. He was posted in the Basra area and has seen much combat. He apparently has dual citizenship, both UK and Canadian. He also has much family on both sides of the pond. As for the Canadian Forces having "boots on the ground", I don;t think so, maybe some liason officers in kuwait, serving with centcom, but as for being "in-country", I don't think so.

Yes-there are a few exchange officers, some actually in Iraq and some in CENTCOM, the joint HQ in Tampa, Fla. USA that controls US ops in SW Asia. Most senior is a BGen who holds a fairly senior staff position in Iraq. Cheers.

I would not call a division DCO a liaison position.

There was at least one Canadian Forces officer serving with the UK's 1st Armd Div during the invasion.
