Kit Issue?

[- m i l l e y -]

I wasn't sure what form to post this under, so I thought I'd start a new one.

I was wondering if any one knew if small packs were available for issue to navy personal or if they are restricted to army/air force pers only.

Thanks.

As far as I know, It all depends, I'm navy and have a small pack but I'm posted at a field unit.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but it will depends on where you are, your status (student or posted) and your trade.

Clothe the Soldier Items (i.e. Small Packs) are only issued to those serving in or supporting Land Force Operations/Units AFAIK.

That is what the Clothe the Soldier website says

Of course the website does not look like it has been updated in a while.

The only small pack sailors get is the old mess tin pouch that we put our flashgear, ear plugs and bandages in.

I have one as it is needed for my deployment back to KAF ect.  And while it is a fantastic piece of gear Sailors honestly don't need such an item for daily shipboard life.  NBP I could see if they were going to be away from the ship for a period of time.  But on the whole, no.

You could always buy one very similar to a small pack from the canex or some online distributors, though i think you will look pretty silly with a green camo backpack in a sailors uniform
