Hi. I would like to apply for the below roles in the CAF:
From my research, it seems all of these roles require Level III security clearance.
I am a Canadian citizen and has been living in Canada for almost 11 years. I was born and raised in Hong Kong. And I haven’t been back to Hong Kong for 8 years. However, I have immediate family in Hong Kong which I keep regular contact with. Bear in mind that Hong Kong is under control by China, which has political tension with Canada. It seems like there’s a certain risk I could fail this security clearance. Is it quite a borderline case?
I did apply to CAF a few years ago, but I had decided to stop my application. I’m wondering if I should reopen it. If I’m not eligible for the above roles, I may not wanna join the CAF.
Maybe I’m interested in Signal Officer. Does Signal Officer still only require Level II clearance and not Level III?
I like the newly implemented probationary period. However, if I enter probationary period and end up not passing Level III clearance, I would be wasting so much time on probationary period, which I could be spending time working a job in the civilian world. Can I opt to accept offer only when I pass all screenings, including security clearance, instead of entering probationary period which I have no guarantee I would get offer for the trades above?
- 1) Information System Technician
- 2) Cycle Operator
- 3) ATIS Tech
