It makes no sense, zero sense, less than zero sense, to unleash anything unless you have a target market for it, and a way to get it from point A to point B.

Pumping more oil and gas only to have it sit without a market to sell it to or a way to get it there is nothing but folly.

If the USA wanted to trade more under fair circumstances there would be no issue.

Its the fact that they want to trade with us less, and the trade that does exist to be as lopsided in their direction as humanly possible that has sparked this consternation.

We don't get a say in how they want to act. We only have a say in how we respond.

I do not believe the trade friction is as one-sided as you make it out to be. The US has legitimate grievances so playing this up as "orange man bad" is just bad form. Canada has a lot of problems with both external and internal trade.

This would have a lot more weight to it if the Orange man didn't declare a trade war on the entire world*, including the Penguins.

It would also hold more weight if Orange man had one, solid, free trade deal with any country he could point to.

He signed a deal with the UK. 10-15 percent tariffs.

He signed a deal with Japan. It collapsed.

He signed a deal with Europe that Europe has zero mechanism to enforce. Trade deal is all but dead, with Trump threatening more tariffs on EU.

Signed a deal with China, 35 percent tariffs and China is absolutely brutalizing the American agricultural sector.

When someone says every nation on earth, even the Penguins, are screwing the USA, then you are left with one of two possibilities. Either the entire world is in the wrong, or the USA is right. I know where I stand.

*Except Russia , north korea and Belarus. Those guys got a pass. I wonder why.

Sure. But the context does change the accusations, does it not? I have heard of police stopping speeders, realizing that childbirth is imminent and putting on their lights giving the car in question an escort to the hospital.

Answer me this. If the LPC are doing so badly, why are they not being punished in the polls? Why does Carney have some of the highest approval ratings not only in Canada, but in the western world? You don't like him, granted, but is that your view or a widespread belief?
