Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Looks we're trending in the right direction after the initial shock of the American trade madness. Cautiously optimistic but we'll have to wait and see until the New Year though to get a good picture of what is actually going on.
The majority of the openings were for part time work, which is fine for the youth and overall is an entry point to eventual full time work. The next step needs to be the creation of FTE, across manufacturing, construction, mining, services, etc. There will be little to no gains in employment in the government sector for the next few years, education and health care might be strained as well. The limiting of any growth in education/health care transfer payments from the Feds to the Provincial will ensure this BUT I don't think that the Provincials will not be able to hold back on continuing to increase (modest) packets of money to both of these sectors in the respective provinces.

A bit of good news.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the .6% lowering of youth unemployment for October is directly related to the massive cut backs in September to the number of foreign students being allowed to enter Canada. This drastic (much needed, with still even more needed) drop in foreign students gave an opportunity for the youth of Canada to be able to get access to more job openings from Canadian firms.

The Employment rate went up, which is much much needed. It needs to be back over 62.1-62.6%

Canada's unemployment rate edges down to 6.9% in October

Economy also added 67,000 jobs, beating economist expectations

The youth unemployment rate, meanwhile, fell for the first time since February as young people aged 15 to 24 gained jobs, Statistics Canada said. That rate has been on an upward trend for the better part of the last two and a half years

Unemployment rate: 6.9 per cent (7.1)

Employment rate: 60.8 per cent (60.6)

Participation rate: 65.3 per cent (65.2)

Number unemployed: 1,557,300 (1,606,500)

Number working: 21,081,900 (21,015,300)

Youth (15-24 years) unemployment rate: 14.1 per cent (14.7)

Men (25 plus) unemployment rate: 5.9 per cent (6.1)

Women (25 plus) unemployment rate: 5.5 per cent (5.6)

OTOH, unemployment in areas that have traditionally had lots of jobs is off the charts...

E.g.,

Canada's unemployment rate down to 6.9%, but Kelowna and Kamloops closing in on 10%

Windsor passes the baton onto someone else. From 11.1% in August down to 9.6% in October.

This is what Carney meant by sacrifices.

Just live within your means, right folks?
Well good news, CAF members are taught improvised shelters, so that will help with housing cost. Then, if we eat once every 3-5 days, we can stretch the dollars a bit more. And if we simply work 18-22 hours each day, then we can keep warm on physical activity, thus reducing heating cost (I would say low carbon emissions but no, we exhale CO2).

Lets all sacrifice for Carneys investments, oops I mean for the greater good of Canada.

But are the bills they are skipping the lease payments on the Beamers, the $200 on subscription services, the $100 iphone 17 payments, etc.?

There are most definitely individuals who are having to choose between paying the gas bill and eating for the week. But they probably aren't taking the time to respond to poll questions.

I guess all the rabid bed wetting over Matt Jeneroux's retirement announcement got many here way over excited.

Did the usual suspects get the facts? Nope, jump right onto conclusions and made up theories right away.

So if Pierre accidently trips in public, will the same crowd here be cheering on and spreading rumours he has parkinsons?

F me, it was ridiculous watching the theories fly out there. It is interesting how as time passes, we hear much more about about Chris D'Entremont defecting (apparently more to do with not being selected for deputy speaker) which explains why only a few weeks ago, he sharply criticized Carney.

Keep the loopy theories coming, there worth a chuckle.

Here's to looking forward to having Mike Chong as leader of a renewed PC party.

If you want to believe the timing, wording, and political context of his retirement announcement with the budget on the table is complete coincidence, go right ahead and believe that.

We shall find out in January if Pierre stays or goes.

Then if he goes, leadership race. Michael Chong is an excellent choice but Beijing is gonna throw everything at him to stop him and that means the Liberals will help Beijing.

Not retiring until Spring, wife is a doctor living in BC and he works between Ottawa and Edmonton. He has himself come out with his own statement. Hardly the words of someone looking to torpedo Pierre.

Carney has little to do with my auto insurance going up or my electricity, groceries? sure they have a small part to play, but my Car insurance, utilities, and school fee's/supplies for my kids have been jumping faster then anything else and thats provincial.

I agree, but I'll say this, scr*w them.

If Chong does succeed Pierre (I will admit, I like the idea if Pierre is ousted), the LPC, the MSM and the die hard Liberals will demonize him and everything he says and does, its their main tactic.

Meh, must be all the journalists on the hill hearing about conservatives meeting with Liberals about crossing the floor are just making it all up.

And two MPs leaving in 3 days is completely normal for a political party.
