I think they want François-Philippe Champagne. I don't think anyone else moves the needle for them.I hear that Quebec Liberals might be looking for a new leader soon…

I don’t see him going anywhere at the moment.I think they want François-Philippe Champagne. I don't think anyone else moves the needle for them.
So I agree that there is indeed precedent it is rare.
Since 1897 floor crossings have happened over 300 times, 55 times MPs have crossed twice, and 9 have done a triple crossIn 1996 David Kilgour and John Bryden both left the Liberal party to sit as independents.
In 2005 Belinda Stronach and Wajid Khan both left the Conservative party and joined the Liberal party within 4 months of one another.
In 2013 Eve Adams and Brent Rathgeber both left the Conservative party to sit as independents.
It's indeed rare but not unprecedented.
I'm shocked more CPC MP's haven't jumped ship sooner.
The average numbers are 41 Libs and 37 for the Cons. So a 4 point lead for the government.Looking at the polls, I'd say somewhere in the middle is likely for both. Liberals around 40, cpc around 38/39. Basically neck and neck when accounting for margin of error. However we havent seen what the impact of the latest economic data, or this latest defection might do to this.

Ok, Thesaurus-with-opinions, your taking a dig at me, so don't cry when I respond in kind. I am a way bigger asshole than you could ever hope to be. And yes, as much of a knuckle dragging primate that I am, I can understand words or at least use google to get the meaning of 2 or more syllable words. This is some seriously unhinged copium.
Fair enough, don't cry like a little bitch when I treat you in kind. Your reactive responses, and obsession with ending PP career (like you were two months ago when D'Entremont crossed) is very telling. Maybe like most Liberals, Pierre scares you. Have you get a suggestion as to who should lead the CPC? Lets hear it.Look up crashout next.

Care to explain why you don't think any of the Conservative front benchers would be able to run the party? So enlighten us, without a condescending tone, who you think should step up and lead th CPC? Don't bother saying Rona A or Lisa Rait, neither is interested.
You might want to revisit your comments from the last 5 years or so (I had a really slow day at work), your actually wrong about things way more than you end up being correct.

How many here took the time to hear or read Joe Tay's statement against Michael Ma? He was the original conservative candidate who was intimidated by the CCP last election with the threats of bounty paid to his captures. Was forced to drop out and until 3 days ago, a close friend of Michael Ma.
If this is the measure of who Michael Ma is, then the Liberals can have him with pride.
For me? Pierre either stays or goes. I have asked for him to stay through my local party reps. If he goes, he goes. He has served 20+ years, drove Trudeau and Singh out of office, gained 20+ seats for the party election and hasn't buckled on his principles or his stance.
Like I warned some of you, the replacement may very well be someone that destroys the Liberals for years to come. Remeber when the Liberals thought they were 'the natural governing party" of Canada and then 2011, third place.
PM Mark Carney does NOT have the charm that Trudeau once had (before they saw through him)
Liberals all flash and dance, no function or practicality.
Nope. Like your view on politics, you can't read people either. Precisely zero hours or minutes of sleep lost over this.I get the feeling you are taking this hard.
Yeeeeaahhh… Pierre isn’t scaring anyone in the LPC camp, and him winning his leadership review would probably be most welcome by the liberals. The utterly have the measure of him, and can point to years without accomplishments and a failure to adapt post-Trudeau. Any residual fear they may have had evaporated the night he lost his seat of many years to a nobody, and then had to parachute into the safest riding In the country. I won’t pretend to know who would be a viable successor, but I’m confident the LPC would be just peachy to continue having an unsteady hand at the helm of the CPC.Fair enough, don't cry like a little bitch when I treat you in kind. Get some rest.Nope. Like your view on politics, you can't read people either. Precisely zero hours or minutes of sleep lost over this.
Unlike your rather over confident self, I can admit, I may very well be wrong. Or may be right.but I’m confident the LPC would be just peachy to continue having an unsteady hand at the helm of the CPC
I will. I was tickled when I found the comment in 2022 where you said Pierre was a great MP (Thats was decent of you and you were not being sarcastic either). In all fairness, you also felt he shouldn't lead the CPC in the same paragraph.Get some rest.
Wierd flex- I accept your claim.I am a way bigger asshole than you could ever hope to be.
Why would I explain something I never said? I never said anything about them not being able to lead the party. What I did was point out their past leadership endorsements and alignment within the CPC tent (PC moderates) prior to adapting to life under PP- mocking the idea that they're a group of lib crushing zealots that PP is keeping restrained..Care to explain why you don't think any of the Conservative front benchers would be able to run the party?
Michael Chong would be my choice with Mackay and Ambrose out of politics. MRG would be okay as well once she takes off the mask.So enlighten us, without a condescending tone,

Which I consider to be unfortunate. I think Canada is best served when we have a strong and stable opposition focused on holding the government to account on core matters of policy, and who offer detailed and nuanced counterpoints.
Can't argue that choice, he would be excellent. If he took over, or anyone, there will be the usual character assassination that goes on. Its not limited to the CPC, it was done to former Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla last winter (Reminder)Michael Chong

Fringe? How so? Elaborate, use your words. Build more homes? repeal stupid laws? Kick start the energy sector for real (rather than talk about it)? Deal with crime? Is that fringe?I wish the CPC wasn’t headed towards the fringe
He isn't out of politics yet. I remember when people swore Harper would never be PM, especially after losing to artin in 2004. And then he would only be PM for "a few months". History taught us different, right?he would be MY prime minister
