Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Been reading and hearing rumors that LPC MP Nate Erskin-Smith may be leaving Federal politics...

Apparently he is making moves to run for leadership of the Ont LP.

I mean on one hand it shows just how strong the relationship between canada and Ukraine is.
Yes, true, but if ever there was a country that was treading water at best or at worst, taking on more water than us......If this was happening in South Korea or Japan or even Germany....

Purely guessing, but there may simply not actually be a rule?

Alternatively, this may have been screened for conflict of interest, and it determined that providing economic advice to assist Ukraine doesn’t actually conflict with Canada’s interests?

I’m confident the opposition will raise this issue and we’ll hear more on this.

infact its likely to be to Canada's economic benefit

Well to be fair, neither does the CPC either when it comes to what an ethics screen is. Wonder if the ethics commissioner feels like no one actually listens ?
From the party that gave us SNC Lavalin and Jody Wilson-Raybold, that's such a bad whataboutism take I almost expected it to be posted on the LPC bluesky feed. The LPC is the government, they should be held to account. Giving them a literal free pass on almost everything and deflecting it somehow towards the CPC is just downright bad faith debate. It's still possible to support the LPC but think this is pretty shady (and might fall under the foreign agents registery).

It is indeed possible to think that, and I think we should all want more info and clarity on how this was decided on and assessed. I do see a real possibility that this move could buttress, not conflict with, Canada’s interests. But I’d need them to show their work to be convinced.

oh i am not giving them a free pass, but i also am not going to judge at face value. I'll want details first, I'd also be curious if Ukrainian law even allows this

Conflict of interest much, eh?

tinfoil
Probably how Carney got her to go quietly, it’s the long game plan to let her funnel money back into Liberal pockets (less a skim of course) with zero oversight under the guise of aid packages to Ukraine. Let. Me. Be. Perfectly. Clear. The corrupt liberals have found the perfect dance partner in Zelenskyy.
