His overt statements of support for Carney could be taken as "interference", particularly in light of his tariff actions against Canada as well as his "51st state" rhetoric and constant references to PMJT as "governor". I can't recall if he's referred to PMMC as such yet.
The relationship between Carney and Trump is an interesting one, especially when we look at what we can from prior to the election.
(I'm referencing Brookfield bailing out Jared Kushner's business for approx $1B. Jared Kushner being Donald Trump's son-in-law.)
Or at the very quiet, yet incredibly fast inroads American interests (both private & public) have made into our natural resources sectors - in particular the mining of rare earth metals/minerals.
Even the US government now has a stake in at least one Canadian mining project.
The U.S. government is increasingly taking stakes in publicly traded companies, including Intel and Canadian-based miners Trilogy Metals and Lithium Americas, giving rise to concerns over the potential for conflict of interest issues to surface.

Vancouver-based Trilogy Metals Inc. says the U.S. government will take a 10-per-cent stake in the mineral exploration company, which has mining interests in Alaska that Washington wants to see developed.

Not to mention the Mactung Mine, Anglo-American & Tech Resources, etc
...
Or on the other hand, the number of companies that have packed up shop & gone south of the border.
(For a guy who was gonna really take it to Trump, that's a lot of money, investnent capital, talent, and jobs heading to the US.)
...
Did Trump help Carney get elected?? To me, it seems so...
Was it intentional? I can't really say.
It's quite possible tho...
If he had just kept his trap shut, I have a feeling the election
may have gone differently and had a different result...but who knows
