Not surprising. We in the west have long felt aggrieved at the lack of representation we receive in Parliament. To make things more equitable requires opening the Constitution, which no one wants to do. So we’re stuck.

As I recall, the two most underrepresented provinces are AB and ON.

A zero to one seat margin isnMt a great position… A buffer of ten or twelve seats would probably feel better to him. But- as @Halifax Tar says, and I agree, I think he’s more focused on getting things done.

That said I wouldn’t rule one out in the summer/fall timeframe, pre-budget.

I'm not sure it's just about "getting things done", I suspect it's equally about the optics of "getting things done". Part of the lack of popularity of the LPC was the cynical mid-pandemic election they called because they were polling well at the time.

PMMC is likely smart enough to not want to be seen falling into the same trap. It helps his brand as a "serious leader" to work with the the parliament he was made leader of at the end of the last election.
