Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

The question is what lessons the CPC learns.

I want a viable opposition. Not Reform Redux.
Ahem, ahem Pierre increased the seat count by 24 but hey, they totally lost the last election, right?

I am saying there is an appetite for what he was pushing. If you want a red tory, then vote Carney's Liberals.

‘We need to unite the country,’ Poilievre says after Manning warns of looming crisis

KINGSTON — Pierre Poilievre called for national unity in the middle of a federal election and a worsening trade dispute with the United States -- rejecting comments made by a prominent figure in conservative politics.

“We need to unite the country. We need to bring all Canadians together in a spirit of common ground,” the Conservative leader said Thursday in Kingston, Ont.

Poilievre was responding to a question about a recent opinion article by Preston Manning, former leader of the Reform Party of Canada, a predecessor of the modern federal Conservative party.

Manning warned of a “Western secession” crisis if the Liberals win a fourth term in government, arguing that some provinces in the region would seek to separate from Canada.

“Large numbers of Westerners simply will not stand for another four years of Liberal government, no matter who leads it,” Manning wrote in an op-ed published in The Globe and Mail on Wednesday.

"Another member of the Conservative Parry crosses the floor to join the Progressive Conservative Party".

Imagine if PMMC built a new cabinet out of just CPC floor crossers and his most blue Grits.

Hell yeah! I actually would like to see if the policies and results from them come with it. If the same effect happens without Pierre, I can live with that.

Not as long as Nathalie is in his caucus.
True but see my post above. If Carney can pull enough Conservatives into his team while at the same time displacing the left wing nut jobs, he’ll pull off a realignment to a party position that is only moderately left instead of extreme left. Maybe.

But if he gains a majority and proceeds with the socialist plans of his left wing, he’ll be the last Canadian prime minister of most of coastal Western Canada.

All the constitutional rules be damned, if he can be underhanded with democracy so can the rest of the political establishments.
In other words and more plainly, he’s broken the China but still has a table to feed. Let’s see if it’s meat or more tofu- fake meat.

Agreed. Look to the CVs. Not that he’ll turn away an easy seat flip, but his headhunting is about experience, not just bums in seats.
Aitchison is one I could see.
  • Similar to Gladu he's got a rep for both wanting and being able to work across the aisle, even campaigned for the CPC leadership focusing on tone and dialing down divisive partisan politics
  • His housing platform (currently Shadow minister) from that campaign looks a lot like the current LPC housing plan
  • Socially he's a PC
  • Adds small town/ rural credibility to the housing file and complement/replacement to big city Gregor Robertson (Minister of State- Rural Housing?)
  • His twitter makes it seem plausible that he was one of the targets of the email
    • Is pretty lowkey, critical but fair, topical to his file -little to no boosting of slogan/ragebait of the week
    • Is very low traffic and largely orphaned by the party, very few CPC HQ reposts or boosts of his content

He was a leadership candidate for CPC.

He was a leadership candidate for CPC.
Gladu attempted to run for leader in 2020, but was disqualified partway through.

We basically have a Prime Minister who overlaps heavily with the old Progressive Conservatives. If Gladu could stomach crossing the floor, someone moderate within the CPC wouldn’t necessarily be dissuaded by reason of having made a leadership run once.

Unless coziness with Beijing makes you queasy.

Oh for sure. I was just saying he was on the list.
